Zenister 0 #1 May 24, 2003 Winged Migration not quite skydiving, but knowing our love of flight i think everyone would be interested in catching this..from the sounds of it everything was filmed from vehicles of one sort or another, any skydivers/paragliders on here involved in any way..and the website is very cool in its own right.. Quote The Setup Producer Jacques Perrin ("Microcosmos") and a team of 14 cinematographers spent four years tracking some 40 species of birds during their yearly migration patterns. Spanning thousands of miles across the Northern Hemisphere, the birds' journeys are perilous, facing severe weather, natural predators and the many dangers of man. The Breakdown Using gliders, boats, hot air balloons and even remote-controlled planes and helicopters, "Migration" often positions its cameras directly within the flock. The results are breathtaking, like nothing ever filmed before. Every single shot in the film is a stunner. If you're looking to find out why birds migrate, you're better off tuning in to Animal Planet. But if you want to marvel at the beauty of birds in flight, this is the next best thing to flying up there yourself. freeflir29 0 #6 May 24, 2003 Yeah...but they play those shots off as if the birds were all peaceful and undisturbed. Meanwhile....the birds were probably thinking..."WTF is that thing chasing me??? Must get AWAY!!!!"
marcandalysse 0 #7 February 1, 2004 We just caught this movie on the big screen here in Sarasota. I was sure surprised that it was back in the theaters! It is out on DVD now, but if you can see it this size you will be blown away by the quality of the camerawork. Birds are so incredible, flying for weeks to travel 1600 miles to a summer home... and then heading back a few months later! And to remember the route! For all of us who live for learning how to use our bodies to move through open skies and among the clouds, this movie is FANTASTIC!
