DRESS CODE

Recommended Posts

Just found this memo that was sent to my friend from Human resources :D......................

Dear All

It has come to the attention of directors and management that GTA staff are not currently adhering to the company dress code. The standards of dress within the office have been continually falling and such a relaxed attitude does not present a professional image to our clients and customers.

Please familiarise yourself with the attached dress code as given in the employee handbook.
In particular, from Monday - Thursday all men are expected to wear a shirt and tie and no employees should be wearing flip flops or trainers for example.

Kind Regards
Human Resources Dept

I dont see anything wrong with that memo at all. If a company had a dresscode, then people need to be adhering to it. There are some dress code rules that are a bit out of hand (like absolutely no open toe shoes or sleeveless tops at my work) however, those codes are made for a reason- to send a professional image out about the company.

Oh well, its just work- wear the flip flops or whatnot after you get off. :)
Blue skies and SAFE landings!

Flip flops? you've got to be kidding me. I wouldn't wear flip flops to work unless I was a lifeguard or something. Thats about as bad as seeing all these poeple at the college going to class in house shoes...and I dont mean regular house shoes either, I mean the huge fuzzy comical ones that look like tweetybird or sponge bob or some other character.I have nothing against cute shoes..just dont wear 'em to class.:S

ok ranting over:$

you'd hate coming to my workplace then. people wear those things to work here:D we have no dress code, just don't wear any clothes that have dirty words or pictures on them and they don't care. no one sees us so it doesn't matter.

I'm a college professor. Students wear whatever they like in my class, I don't mind**. I wear whatever I like, too. I tell them that symmetry is important in science, and this is an example of symmetry.

** I did find it a little distracting when a girl sat in the front row with a short skirt and no panties. That was a long time ago.

if the dress code states you should wear a shirt and tie, then I think it would be reasonable to expect people not wear flip-flops.

I'm not a fan of flip-flops, they always just fall off my feet if I try to walk normally. When I walk such that they stay on they make an annoying dragging-clomping noise.

Hey moody,

why so moody over Flip-Flops? Flip-flops are great all purpose shoes. Easy on, easy off.

I dont have a prob w/flip flops, they're great..I just wouldnt wear them to work.(Unless youre in a job where appearances dont affect business.)

I've been in jobs w/dress codes and the original request posted seems reasonable. One job I had w/a required dress code that comes to mind required all females to wear makeup, all shirts must be tucked in, you had to wear a belt and your shoes had to be clean.I didnt always care for the dress code, but I wanted to keep my job.:S

(besides, I have other reasons for being moody.):P
