popart0315 0 #1 November 24, 2010 Hi, I aquired a Singer 68 recently. There's no tag on it so I don't what subseries it is. All I know is,according to the original owner, it makes 28 stitches and is adjustable from 5/16" to 5/8" in 'length'. He used it for tacking key chains and sail canvas. Anyway, after using it, I found the covering stitch is too wide for tacking jeans belt-loops. So, I was wondering if I could adjust the width of the covering stitch? Or I need buy another cam to meet my acquirement? Though, what I really want is a 42 stitches bartacker. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you. Because it is useful when composing a meaningful reply and/or referring people to possible solutions to know who they are, what their background is, where they are located, etc... Such as, if I knew this individual was in western SC, I would immediately refer them to MEL... PA, DeWolf, etc... If they're in Israel these people could still help via internet, but RIGGER (Slomo) would be better able to look at the machine. On this type of site, it is one of the common courtesies with which new members might not be familiar. JWAlways remember that some clouds are harder than others... Unstable 9 #8 November 24, 2010 QuoteI prefer to hear Unstable's answer to my question :). Well, I apologize if my response seemed terse (I personally disagree with your statement) but my structure for the answer is depended on the person asking ~ I mean, what else can I say? I have a good friend in the area who just recently rebuilt and machined several parts for a very similar bartack machine, and had it tuned for shooting bartacks for various linetypes..... Am I going to give the same response to somebody familiar with these machines as I am with maybe someone who is just learning their ins and outs? The only info we had was that the bartac was not correct for bluejeans ~ which is different that a bartac required to reline a canopy. Location is another issue ~ I have resources and contacts in KS, AZ, TX, and FL if this gentleman wants help tuning. Again, I apologize if my response seemed terse but It is a valid response. popart0315 0 #10 November 25, 2010 Hi Guys, Take it easy, guys. I have not received reply notifications from my e-mail until I logged in. Okay, sorry that I did not introduce myself first and I should. I'm located in Taipei,Taiwan. I am not a skydiver but love sewing. Which means I might contribute nothing here. I don't know if my post was improper. If it was, I apologize. The reason I am here is because this is the only site that discusses 'bartacker' most. parachutist 2 #11 November 25, 2010 I have a Singer 69, and it looks very much like the 68 in this manual: http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/68.pdf Scroll down to Fig 2 on p4. If you move the G knob up, it should make the stitches skinnier... move it down to make them wider
