craichead 0 #27 February 3, 2004 Same goes for me. I used to keep dried flowers, but they ended up going in the trash after a few months. However, I did keep the roses from last year's Valentine's Day. Not because I was sentimental about them, but because we neglected to throw them out. What I ended up doing was clipping the buds from that bunch and from other dried flower bouquets that we just bought for centerpieces (Andy's idea, btw, he is a girly man ), and I put them all into a big glass bowl that we now use for a centerpiece on the dinner table. The other reason why I don't keep stuff for sentimental reasons is because Andy won't let me. He always gets on my case about being a packrat. So why should he get me roses/flowers/cards if I have to throw them out, anyway?! _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #28 February 3, 2004 QuoteSame goes for me. I used to keep dried flowers, but they ended up going in the trash after a few months. LOL! Many years ago, I also used to try to keep my dried flowers, but I also have to inevitably throw them ALL out because it's just too much!!! However...I agree with MissKriss. I LOVE gifts, especially getting more than one at once. I love GIVING and RECEIVING gifts sooo much!!! I looooove any and all romantic gestures, too. Romantic dinners, tender words...having the man that I love give me a bath or wash/brush my hair for me. I have had my BF bathe me, blow dry my hair and curl it for me when I was recovering from surgery once. That was so sweet. Romantic, spontaneous get-aways are also sooo appealing... EricaH 0 #29 February 3, 2004 Quotebut because we neglected to throw them out that happened from my b-day flowers. I too have a large vase w/ heads from some flowers, Ikinda wanted to add one from my b-day bunch, but forgot - guess it doesn't really matter; they all look the same. Rosa, this is so true & for most people (not just women) I believe QuoteI LOVE gifts, especially getting more than one at once. I love GIVING and RECEIVING gifts sooo much!!! EXACTLY! I love giving Andy small gifts just because. I usually get him silly, fun things throughout the year. For instance, I just got him a "Flying Monkey Airlines" t-shirt, because he's my Skydiving Hubby Monkey. It shouldn't be necessary to have a designated day to show someone you love them. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

Paige 0 #32 February 3, 2004 Quote While I do think that it's a ridiculous holiday that is meant to eat away at the consumers xtra cash.... it is always nice to get something so that when your girlfriends ask you what you got for valentine's day.. you can say "My wonderful boyfriend/husband brought me this, or took me here ... " . :) I have to agree here. It is nice to have something to say when the masses/co-workers ask what you got. It's almost like everyone expects you to get a gift on V-day if you are hooked up with someone. I don't ever expect anything on V-day and that's about what I usually get from my bf's It would be nice to get a card or have them make one. I've never been taken out or treated on V-day Not that its too sad (I agree its a fake holiday) but just once I would like to have a good story to tell the next day instead of..."I sat at home, at a pint of ben and jerries, then chocolates, I have V-day"...u get the idea. Oh well, maybe this year?!?! Damn, bf's in a different state...maybe there's no hope, oh well, Ben and Jerry...here I come!Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com

craichead 0 #35 February 3, 2004 No flowers! Something that's even better than a gift card to a day spa--he could go to a massage therapy class and learn how to give me a good massage himself. See, he would still come home empty-handed, and I wouldn't be upset! It's all in what he does with his hands...a gift that keeps on givin'. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

jlmiracle 7 #37 February 3, 2004 You should get her a nice card. I don't recommend a prewrapped box of fannie farmer fruit creams. A single flower would be a nice touch or just make her a nice dinner. Good luck JudyBe kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. craichead 0 #39 February 3, 2004 LOL, this is getting fun. No cards! No flowers! Andy makes a nice dinner for me nearly every night. And that is precisely why he doesn't have to get me anything, take me out to dinner, bring home roses/flowers/cards/candies/chocolates or whatever. He doesn't even have to DO anything for Valentine's Day except what we always do. I'm perfectly happy with cuddling with him on the couch at the end of an annoying day at work (I work Tue-Sat, so I will have come home after an annoying day of work on Valentine's Day). He already shows his love for me everyday! I don't need "special" treats on V-Day because I already get special treatment all the time. I know I'm incredibly lucky to have my HubbyMonkey. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
