Kallend,

Somehow I think you would find fault with the work Mother Teresa did.

Tell me, what have you done for humanity?

Chris

Rather more than Bush, I'd guess.

How about the short list?

OK - here's a short list:

1. helped the US Navy develop bigger and better missile warheads in order to keep the peace.

2. Helped the DoE improve its nuclear warhead materials, thus helping to win the cold war.

3. Didn't send anyone off to war under false pretenses.
...

When you develop warheads you are keeping the peace, but Bush is evil if he uses them? It's pretty convenient where you draw the moral line.

Where have I said use of warheads is intrinsically evil? Please quote the post.

Use of weapons can be justified. I had no quarrel with sending troops into Afghanistan.

Lying to the people about why you're waging a war cannot be justified - that is the evil. And apologists like you make excuses for it.

Why do you phrase your theory that Bush lied about Iraq as though it were proven fact?

If I caught myself doing that -- stating speculation as fact -- I'd take a look at my integrity levels.

Making excuses again. Is he a relative of yours?

Read the 2003 State of the Union address again. Read the part about uranium. The part that his own intelligence service had warned him was untrue.

Well, thank you for supporting why --> you believe <-- Bush lied, but it still hasn't been proven as fact.

But if it is proven in the future, I'll be an anti-Bush man very quickly.

What would you require as proof, maybe say, hmm, an independent investigator?

Yep, got Ken Starr on the phone right now . . . ;)

But Bush doesn't want one, doesn't think it's needed... Doesn't think the 9-11 Commission needs to continue it's work either although the bi-partisan group says they need more time because the administration's been stonewalling...

How about GWB's statement that the federal deficit would be very small and short lived? Two years later it's an all time record high, and projected by his own budget manager to last into the indefinite future.:(

Lying! (Very "conservative" of him, too.);)

Can't blame the dems for this one!

That's not lying, that's mis-forecasting the future.

Sheesh man, cut the poor guy a tenth of the slack you gave Clinton. ;)

I'm sure you've read by now that Bush is indeed likely to support an independent investigation.

This is contrary behavior to every call for investigation of every president since I've been around . . . maybe it is an indication that Bush has really been acting in good faith all along?

What slack was that? Clinton was a liar too (but not a dupe).

The federal budget is proposed by the President. If he mis-forecast, then he mis-forecast his own proposals. Liar or stupid, take your pick.

I don't want to spend an exciting day poring through your old posts, so I'll just take your word that you don't cut Clinton any slack either. Good man!:$

Although Bush and his staff certainly seem to have removed "conservative spending" from the republican platform (ARRRRGGGGHH!), it is a huge oversimplification of matters to call him a liar or an idiot because of it.

OK, how about, his economic policies are a gross misunderstanding of post-Keynesian economics? Is that accurate enough for ya?

Come on now, I'm the first to admit when I'm wrong or someone else is right, but frankly, the only thing I've seen the Bush administration do right is invade Afghanistan (and they only did a half-ass job of that).

You have watched to many TV movies where the war is over in 1-2 hours. It took 6 years to end the axis domination of WW2 ~

Are you seriously suggesting that the Taliban and the Nazi/ Fascist/ Japanese axis are remotely comparable?

I think we would have had him by now if we had not been distracted into Iraq.

He was suspected to be in an area with limited lines of drift and we -were- closing in bit by bit, then, it all went to hell.

My how threads evolve.

Andy you have too much character to behave as Arafat does were you in his situation, despite your puppy kicking. There has never been a nation of Palestine that occupied Israeli lands. Ever. Ever. Ever. Hard to have something stolen from you that you never possessed. Arafat's driving force is a hatred of Jews and little more - Barak offered him 99% of what he asked for and Arafat turned it down outright. He does not desire peace - he desires the destruction of the state of Israel by any means necessary. Giving that terrorist credibility was THE worst mistake Clinton made in the foreign policy arena.

PhillyKev - Carter has worked for peace and his intentions are unquestionable though I question his judgement over and over again - start another thread for that one; it would take several long posts. However, his accepting of the Nobel prize under the pretenses it was presented was borderline treason in my opinion. His other actions during Bush's presidency run contrary to years of tradition and are - to me - disgustingly partisan.

"Oh, I forgot, she was Catholic and Catholic bashing is OK these days"

Dude, you forgot Jews, Baptists, and any other subset that falls under the "Judeo-Christian" umbrella. You can bash any religion except for Islam, or the religion that is liberalism. Those two are exempt.

Your idea of "independence" is not quite the same as mine:

"President Bush is expected to formally announce the make-up of the independent commission soon. By establishing the panel by executive order, rather than through an act of congress, he will give the White House greater say over its composition and the timetable for its work."

Independent commission. Hmmm...I wonder if any commission can every be truly independent? Its funding has to come from somewhere, as would its authority. This 'what did the WH know before 9-11' is predominantly coming from buffoons, so it seems. I really question the intellect of anyone who actually things GWB, El Jefe Clintonista, or any other elected official would allow a terrorist attack to occur just for political gain.

What about the support given to Hussein by our government? Who was that?.....
