flygirl03 0 #26 February 6, 2004 Quotethink it is time she stopped playing tennis and hiking in the mountains all week and settle down and knit jerseys like all the other old ladies LOL, but then she might stick herself with a knitting needle I really think she should take up skydiving... much safer than tennis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ earthbound misfit
Scratch 0 #27 February 6, 2004 Does she require vision aids like specs or contacts and was she wearing them. If not she may have misjudged her height of the court surface? Was she trained to play by a qualified instructor with a minimum of 15 million serves? Was any of her equipment a 'Beta' model? You know this new stuff can fail if it has not been tested for 7 generations. Did hiking in the mountains give her hypoxia? Did she have insurance? Lastly were her grips fitted with a RSL. velo90 0 #28 February 6, 2004 Look, you can speculate all you want about this incident but the bottom line is that Tennis is NOT safe. What really gets me annoyed is the 3 set wonders out there commenting on something they know nothing about. When you've been around the sport as long as I have and seen the broken bones you know that you can serve an Ace after Ace and do nothing wrong and still get hurt. What is worse it's not only the players themselves that are getting hurt, ball boys, umpires and even spectators are getting injured these days. As for the suggestion that she take up knitting, how naive can you be. Sharp pointy objects have always been a source of danger since at least 1066.
