Missing girl and the media

Recommended Posts

I'm assuming most people are aware of the abduction of Carlie Brucia in Sarasota, FL where I live and that her body was found today.

My roommates girlfriend was running some errands and had to pass by the spot where she was abducted. Traffic was at a standstill due to all of them TV crews there trying to get video and report.

Trying to get out of traffic she wound up taking the street where the girl lived (she didn't know it at the time). The family had black plastic up all around the house for privacy and sign in the front yard asking people that they respect their privacy and don't come on the property. Traffic was stopped because of all of the the news crews lined up on the other side of the street taking pictures and video.

I don't know how everyone feels but this seems very rude to me. The media has all of the possible information that they could have already gotten. There is nothing more or anything new for them to gain by encroaching on this family that just lost their daughter.

There's more to see, as far as the media is concerned. They want more tears, more drama, something. They don't care how you feel or the family feels. That's why they have the job they have. Certain people have lack of emotions or compassion and only care about ratings. That's right, its all business.

Personally, I'm sick over the whole incident. That guy better fry, quickly.

Yes it is rude and annoying as fuck. Everyone has to do their part to stop it though because the only way they can put this shit on TV is if people are watching it. You have to turn off your TV or radio when you see or hear shit like this. I think that is our best bet.

What do you expect from a group who want the "human interest" story.

These paparazzi are profiting in human misery, and it's despicable that this family has to deal with not only the loss of a little girl, but maintaining privacy.>:(

THe media "NEEDS" more tears and drama!
We could crush a few nuts on the guys with camera work and the reporter that is such a Mytar to "get the story" could take a break if her Intruding microphone needed surgical removal from the "aft" oriface???;)
We then would be a giving:) sort of people in return........poor misunderstood news hounds:(

On the flip side.... if it weren’t for the mass media attention, the SICK FUCKER may not have been caught and Carlie’s body may not have been found!
My godson (16 years old) was car-jacked and murdered about 6 years ago >:(!!!
The police did not act on him being missing because they said he was most likely a 16-year-old run-away >:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(>:(
If it had NOT been for the media getting involved on how it was being handled by the police so poorly Jimmy might not have EVER been found. They (the media) interviewed family, friends, teachers and so on regarding how this child who was actively involved with: Math Tutoring Grade School, Eagle Scouts, Part Time Job, Church Volunteer Work...you know all -n- all GOOD KID! The police DID start a hard-core investigation only AFTER the media constantly broadcasted such community outrage.
Jimmy’s time a death was determined to be 2 days after abduction. If the police would have started a thorough investigation earlier “before” the media/community pressured them he might have been found alive!!
The media helped in alerting many local and not local communities with regards to all the details surrounding him being missing. Due to media efforts and information received because of media broadcast, the two FUCKERS who killed him were arrested. Jimmy’s body was found 2 weeks after abduction.
All I am trying to get across here it that sometimes what appears to be ugly isn’t. Although the media attention was uncomfortable and for the most part brutal after he was found…. it was understandable!!
I do feel for the family of Carlie and invasion of their privacy, it sucks. But let’s face it we all watch the news for a reason.
I personally was not sick and tired of the broadcasting and kept the TV on hoping for news on this poor child!

Edited to add a "NOT" debating (in the sentence below). :o
Please do not challenge me on this I am NOT debating anyone’s opinion. I am just expressing my FEELINGS and from another perspective.
This bullshit is scary. Don’t ever think, “these things only happen to other people”!
Carlie and her family probably thought the same thing.
Please love each other and yourself as though there was no tomorrow.
Sorry for the long story but these sick and sad storied always hit close to home and make me so sad and so confused as tot "WHY"..."WHY DOES THIS SHIT HAPPEN"! :|

This wouldn't be the case if the tears and drama didn't sell. WE need the drama, that's why the streets were clogged with cars and people where the little girls body was found. That's why her family needs to request privacy. It's sick and I don't understand it. The media are the pushers, but we're the ones with the addiction.

Maybe I understood it before I became a paramedic. Now, I don't. So many times, there was an accident, a tragedy, death, dismemberment, blood, body parts. And I had to push people out of the way just so I could do my job. All so people could see it up close and personal. Why?? Does it make life more interesting if you get to witness a dead person, see the mother crumpled on the ground sobbing, smell the blood? I know death, I've seen what it does to the living, and that knowledge is what makes me struggle to understand the lack of respect shown people in their time of grief and sadness.

Curiousity and intrigue about death and dying are one thing. It's natural to be curious and intrigued, but when people start acting this disrepectfully, something is wrong.

That poor baby, I am so sad for her. And for her family.

Media = a bunch of buzzards circling around. They don'tr give a damn about how the family feels, if they can, the will heighten the pain and suffering of the family, to improve their ratings! Worthless bastards should be shot! >:( >:( >:(

****I agree with you 100% on that note.
Some people liked to come to our motorcycle races to see the crashes. The "Ghouls" were not tolerated at Summit Point. A lot of family and friends out numbers the basic spectator crowd.
I can't take too much. DZs and Track made me a 1st responder many times and in capacity of "aid, I'm fine but, stop and see their family and I start to melt. (I care too deeply/quickly to "remain" effective to be help beyond arrival of a superior).

I agree. I'm so sick and tired of seeing the replay of the abduction over and over and over. It served a useful purpose when they were searching for her, but now it is time to leave the greiving family to deal with the tragic murder of their child.

Well said! What a tragedy. If I saw this post coverage on the news I would change the channel.

This is not seriouse news reporting! It's sinister invasion of privacy and taking advantage of someones horrible loss and misfortune for ratings.

I want to puke! I know that people watch this... But Why? Why would anyone even want to report this not that there is resolve to the mystery?
