jmpnkramer 0 #1 February 4, 2004 Quote Let's all make fun of Phreezone! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=898604;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Now I know that all this is in good fun. The problem is that who decides when it is not fun anymore? The Greenies? I mean if it does not bother the individual it is directed at why should someone else make the decision for them? I mean here we have a post which could definitely be taken the wrong way even with the smiley faces. Yet a similiar post in Talk Back has been locked today. Both have technically broken the rules of the forum but only one was locked. Here is another example: Quote Got any dirt on Phreezone? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=857969;search_string=Dirt%20on%20Phreezone;#857969 Then again a greenie started it so that is O.K. Yet I have had some things deleted which were far from offensive but because someone was slightly offended they got deleted. I guess you have to be on the in crowd of DropZone.com. What a Shame. I don't read have of the posts on here so I cannot judge them all. I have seen that strong opinions get stopped though. I mean when someone calls someone a "Dope" and gets banned that is just silly and childish. Only because most of ya'll have not even met him he is wrong. I am not defending what he says on here just that certain individuals are easily offended by some of the things he says and the fact he is not known well gets banned. If ya'll knew him it would not bother you. Is not making fun of the same as attacking in a way? I have been called on a attack via PM by a Greenie and quickly corrected it because they were right. Then again some things get deleted without so much as an explaination. If it is blatent I understand but I have had posts made in jest deleted because it bothered a Greenie and they had the power to do so. The people who saw it knew it was not offensive at all or demeaning. The point is that if there is going to be a rule then stick to it. making fun of and attacking pretty much fall in the same category. Don't get me wrong I am all for fun things. I have been in the Military for over 15 years and you had better develop a thick skin because the razzing in the military is high. Most on here probably could not handle it. Everyone Have a Nice Day! turtlespeed 226 #3 February 4, 2004 Are we feeling a bit sensitive today Kra? Take a Xanax and drink a beer, it'll be ok. (Besides, as long as you put the smileys in the right places, and use "Smiley Etiquite(sp)" you can get away with a lot more)I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
WrongWay 0 #4 February 4, 2004 Hmm....ya know, I've wondered this myself. Frankly, I hate to say this, but I think it depends on what kind of smiley they use after the attack. For instance, if someone says "You're such an asshole. " then it is clear that they are joking and no offense should be taken. However, if they say "You're such an asshole. " OR "You're such an asshole. " it is clearly a personal attack. This is usually how I judge. So come on, and let's move on with it, asshole!! Vallerina 2 #5 February 4, 2004 Quote I guess you have to be on the in crowd of DropZone.com. What a Shame. Uhh...I'm definitely not a part of any "in" crowd. There are plenty of people here that dislike me. Quote Is not making fun of the same as attacking in a way? No. Have you not seen the constant (okay...not so much lately) insults between PLFKing, Jessica and Wildblue? They make fun of each other. They are not attacking each other. I think the difference is obvious. Quote The point is that if there is going to be a rule then stick to it. making fun of and attacking pretty much fall in the same category. They do stick to it. No, making fun and attacking do not fall under the same category. I did not attack Phreezone. I did not call him a "jerk," "poopy head," or any other negative term. I lauged at him because he can't post whore as well now. That's not attacking. HH has common sense, and he chose greenies that have pretty good filters as what qualifies as personal attacks and what's all in good fun. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
jmpnkramer 0 #6 February 4, 2004 Quote he chose greenies that have pretty good filters as what qualifies as personal attacks and what's all in good fun. I would have to say that this statement is incorrect. Do you know all of the Greenies personally? I know two personally and have met one other. I may have met more and do not know. I do know of a particular instance where the Greenie deleted something because even though it was in good fun they personally did not like it. That is just the WRONG ANSWER!!!!!!!!!! I know Phree personally and he is a great guy and takes it all in good fun. I am not going after you in any way. It was just easy to make the point with the thread that was started and another that I could find relatively quickly. Laters, .The REAL KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER! "HESITATION CAUSES DEATH!!!" Quote I do know of a particular instance where the Greenie deleted something because even though it was in good fun they personally did not like it. Yes, and deleting anything where someone is just poking fun at someone will result in more of a situation like that happening (although, I do not know of that situation or the moderator that did that.) Quote Do you know all of the Greenies personally? I've met all that moderate Talk Back. You don't have to personally know the moderators to see that what they delete/leave out there shows good judgment. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

happythoughts 0 #10 February 4, 2004 I know more than a few dz.commers. I get together with them to party and jump when the opportunity arises. People from the larger dzs know more people. People often make comments that reference their common experiences. I guess that would make people feel excluded. Sometimes it is just a matter of geography. It can be rather rude when the "elite" deem someone "not worthy" or disagree with a post or whatever and decide to gang up on him/her. Sometimes they even pass it off as harmless joking. Well, "karma"...right? Sigh...it's true. Why stress over forums? Edited: Hey, Happythoughts, I totally agree with that post.
