ManagingPrime 0 #1 November 15, 2010 Any ideas on who has the best pricing when it comes to custom canopy designs? Thinking something simple: Solid background with single color script across canopy. I was told this would be just a few hundred dollars extra, which has me interested, but I kind of doubt that it's so cheap. Just hitup all the manufactures? Please advise. You dlon't care what kind of canopy? Sparky At this point I've jumped the Sabre 2, Safire 2 and pilot. The difference that i've noticed (keep my experience in mind) have been very minimal...with the exception of where the flare was at on the Safire. They all seem safe...they all seem to open about the same...and no one is pushing me towards any particular canopy. I'm kind of leaning towards a sabre. Honestly, I'll probably outgrow the canopy before I'm at an experience level where I could say "this canopy is better than that one for X and Y reasons".Hence, price is more of a determining factor. I will talk with a local dealer, but based on some of the feedback I'm getting I think a custom canopy will not make much financial sense at this point. Skydivesg 7 #5 November 17, 2010 A custom canopy with PD (ie. Sabre 2) costs no more than a stock canopy. It just takes longer to get. PM me for prices.Be the canopy pilot you want that other guy to be.
monkycndo 0 #6 November 17, 2010 The OP wants to have a logo on the bottom skin. This can be real pricey depending if it is sewn or can be screened. Also contributes to larger pack volume.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

Better idea - buy a used canopy that's a breeze to pack, and costs $1500 less then you were looking at. Spend the difference on a Cypres, jumps, or whatever. Get to a to a point where you can make an educated selection (by virtue of experience) of a canopy model and size you'll be able to hang on to for a while, and then go big with the custom stuff. matthewcline 0 #9 November 18, 2010 I agree with Dave and had planed on writing the very same thing, go used, get experience and then buy the canopy you will keep for a longer while. That way the custom canopy is associated with GOOD piloting and landing skills and not the other kind. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
