Antithesis 0 #5 February 9, 2004 How strong is their tunnel? can you freefly in it? I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky
craichead 0 #6 February 9, 2004 Ah...yes. That is our Lovely and Wonderful Manifest Girl, Lisa. We went to Universal Studios CityWalk, and we all got jello shots after dinner. The shots came in cutesy "syringes" that we started using as squirt guns. So the DZO and Manifest Girl were dueling for the rest of the night. It wasn't a very pretty fight...but it was damn funny. One of those instances where ya had to be there, I think. In the end, Manifest Girl said, "That's okay, I have all season to get that little fucker back!" And actually, her husband got him pretty good as he was dropping us off at the airport--right in the ear and down his back. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
AndyMan 7 #7 February 9, 2004 Quote How strong is their tunnel? can you freefly in it? You can freefly, The tunnel will go up to 150MPH, but for most people they simply won't turn it up that fast. Which is fine. They kept it around 135 for the freeflyers, which is just fast enough for most people to sitfly. The slow speed is a good thing, it forces people to focus on their form and technique so that they're in control. Myself, I worked on my back-flying, and it took pretty much 30 minutes of me in the tunnel until I could do it properly... Very cool. The biggest realization is that just because you can do something in freefall, doesn't mean that you know how to do it. For example, I thought I knew how to fly on my back until I tried it in the tunnel. Only then did I realise how little control I had. Likewise, there were some people with lower experience who thought they knew how to sitfly, only to find that they never got off the net in the tunnel. Only through refining their skills and learning control could they sitfly in the tunnel. Some people never got their skills refined enough to do it in the tunnel. The highllight of course, was that I met Dove in passing on the street friday. I didn't get a chance to meet Arlo. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. craichead 0 #9 February 9, 2004 Another "dropzone.com" spotting, a little more obvious, and on an evil-eyed AndyMan this time. http://www.skydivecsc.com/csc/gallery/75_tunnel_camps/33.jpg Also, for those of you who know her and/or her posts, you can spot RoadRash on the far left of the group picture in front of the tunnel. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

AndyMan 7 #11 February 9, 2004 Oh yes. Without a doubt, tunnel time is the single most valuable tool avaiable to learning pretty much any kind of body flight, exits notwithstanding. The rate of progress is simply amazing. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
EricaH 0 #12 February 9, 2004 Sounds like a very fun time, almost like a honeymoon w/ friends around too . Sure wish I had enough $$ to refine my form . So, QuoteThe highllight of course, was that I met Dove in passing on the street friday. I didn't get a chance to meet Arlo That's cool... did Criachead get too meet the beautiful lady as well? If not, I'd watch saying that it was the "highlight" - if so, I'm jealous. You guys just walkin round in FL.. so cool aren't you 2 Kinda crazy to just randomly meet someone walkin down the street! craichead 0 #13 February 9, 2004 Yah, I recall meeting Dove at the same time AndyMan did, but it seems that his wife wasn't part of the highlight of his tunnel trip. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
AndyMan 7 #14 February 9, 2004 Yeah, the whole group was walking down the street towards the tunnel when we ran into Wittenburg, and Dove was with him. She goes "hey! I recognize you!... You're AndyMan!" It sure is odd to have people walk up to you on the street and say they know you from online... _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. smooth 0 #15 February 9, 2004 Glad to see there was some actual skydiving too. What kinda altitude did ya get? Weather looks less than ideal
AndyMan 7 #16 February 9, 2004 Nah, not the highlight of the trip. You're going to have to stick to being the highlight of my life. Sorry babe! I LOVE YOU!!!! _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
craichead 0 #17 February 9, 2004 Yeah! It was the first time the group actually got to skydive on the tunnel trip! Unfortunately AndyMan wasn't feeling very well and couldn't jump with sinus issues, so we stayed behind at the hotel and just wandered up and down International Drive. We heard that it was overcast for most of the day...the ceiling started off at 8500ft. The first load of the day made it to 7500 ft and the second load that CSC was on made it to 10,500ft, I think? Not sure...you'll have to ask the people who jumped. Then it started raining before they could get another jump in...of course. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

craichead 0 #19 February 9, 2004 Better, but as you pointed out this past weekend, I think he still needs work on the "we," "our," and "us" thing, though.
