Any way to recolor faded parts on a rig?

Recommended Posts

could you not have a word with a rigger, see what they say about dying some of it?

who knows... i'm useless at most things, but then, isn't that what husbands are for?

I looked into this for my old rig. I got some
comprehensive responses the gyst of which were:
Basically don’t put any kind of colouring agent onto your rig. If the rigger cannot be sure of what chemicals have been in contact with the container they cannot guarantee that its serviceable. Just such an example was sent back to the factory (sunpath) and they said, “we did not receive this rig, we did not see this rig, we do not know it exists, we will not knowingly sell parts for this rig, this never happened”.

You will run a very real risk of grounding your own container by colouring it in with anything because riggers wont/shouldn’t re-pack it.

hey kel-luv*,

if you happen to visit a craft-store, there are fabric-safe markers of all colors ~ you can pick one to match your green-of-choice.

a girl at our dz colored a section of her rig with these markers ~ it looks very nice. just for safety-sake, before you color, check with the manufacturer or a rigger to verify the marker is okay. i know you already know that, but i just wanted to cover my tracks so that anyone else reading this doesn't attack me :D!

i am happy you have your rig ~ yaaaaaaaaay! that's so super cool! B|

Sunny,

It's definitely faded. The rigger just popped my reserve last weekend, and the part of the circle that's concealed is about 4 shades darker. But it's really no biggie. It still looks fine! And as far as I know (famous last words?) it works! B|

Just figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks y'all!

On my very first rig it had a neon rainbow closing flap. What I did was used highlighters, made sure it didn't blead thru first, then protected the rest of the rig, and colored the parts of the flap. Then sprayed it with scotchguard to keep it from fading etc. It held up for about a year then started to fade again. Made a HUGE difference. But again, talk to your rigger first. I had 35 jumps at the time and just wanted it to look pretty. I didn't have a problem though and riggers didn't question it

If it's the pop top, you can get a new one. What other parts do you want to paint? I have painted a few rigs in my time. PM me if you want.

Here is mine.
