Slappie 9 #35 February 11, 2004 WTF? Is this bash Texas day and I didn't get the memo? For all you people who HAVE NOT been to Texas.. STFO!! We don't need you and don't want you around. For those of you who live here and don't like it. The bus station has plenty of tickets GTFO!! As for being Overly Proud? If your proud of your state and love where you live I don't think it constitutes being "overly proud" I am proud to hail from Texas. We just fucking rock and all other states are jealous so you have to try and knock on the best of the best... JohnRich 4 #42 February 11, 2004 QuoteQuoteQuoteNow what does Texas have that Colorado doesn't have? Beaches. Well you got me on that one. I got you on weather too, which you didn't mention. But maybe you like it when the high termperature is only 23 degrees outside... But then, it depends upon what part of Texas you are talking about. Amarillo, in the north, gets just as cold as Colorado. Texas is so big, it contains many different types of geography and weather. We have beaches, forests, swamps, prairie, high plains, deserts and mountains. From Beaumont in the east, to El Paso in the west, is a greater distance than that from El Paso to the Pacific ocean, or from Beaumont to the Atlantic ocean. From Corpus Christie in the south, to Amarillo in the north, is a greater distance than from Amarillo to the Canadian border. It's huge. Driving across on I-10 going east or west covers about 850 miles. You can drive all day and not get out of Texas. It's not "the best" state - that's a subjective thing for each individual to decide for themselves. But it sure is a darned neat place to be. I love it here. Duckwater 0 #45 February 11, 2004 Quotebeen herein DFW 7 years. drop zone's suck except for SSM, been to skydive dallas and no one wants jump with new guy..stuck up skygod types. I DON'T even jump in texas I fly else where to jump.. Im glad I am not the only one that had a problem with a-holes at Skydive Dallas, the freeflyers were really cool but this RW guy REALLY pissed me off. I flew a straight in approach on a really windy day with no turns below 800 ft. He came up to me and went on and on about how If I ever get near him again under canopy, he would "fly right through me" and If I ever jump in the "Big Dropzones in CA or FL, I need to learn to fly my conopy". That A-Hole had no idea that all of my 800 jumps are at Perris and Elsinore and nobody EVER had a problem with my flying skills, including the best canopy pilots in the world. He went on for like 5 minutes, twice, and all I did was say "OK" 100 times. The more I think about it, the more I want to deck him for threatening to kill me. I have not been back since. This guy was a whack job. Ill just fly to Perris when I want to skydive. Moral: If you have a problem with another skydiver, let the DZO handle it. CanuckInUSA 0 #46 February 11, 2004 QuoteI got you on weather too, which you didn't mention. Hey I'm not into hot and humid weather and believe it or not, plenty of people do like snow. Plus I believe Colorado has more sunny days than any other state with the exception of maybe Florida. So just because it's snowing here today, doesn't mean some of us don't like this weather. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
Yoshi 0 #47 February 11, 2004 Well, I jsut moved here about 5 months ago...I like it.. houston that is.. Spaceland is a pretty cool place (disclaimer: It doesnt have the night life I was used to at Skydive Wayne County in richmond, IN...but its a nice place) people here definately have that "southern hospitality" that I am not quite used to... just walking down the street and strangers saying hi and stuff is wierd to me.. I love the weather thus far..although when its 450 degrees and a thousand percent humidity I might change my views... seems like any other state, accept it takes 20 hours to cross this one in a car..._________________________________________ this space for rent.
