Worked 21 hours straight, all night, and I'm going back to work here in about 15 minutes for another all day / all nighter. It only comes once a year - but after 3 days of being on the clock without much more than a nap on a couch, it takes the entire year to mentally & emotionally recover..... I grew up in a flower shop, my family and I all worked there all at once or at one time or another. I worked there from the time I was 10 to 19 years old, How many 16 year old Straight, Longhaired, Druggie, Hellraising, Floral Designing Wedding/Event Planners have you known? I was one.... Believe it or not. Holidays Suck in the floral industry! I worked for my Uncle Don, a mildly flaming fag who put up with alot of crap from me as a teenager... But only because I was invaluable. I loved working with exotics and doing very highstyle pieces, I could plan events and weddings with the best of'em, I took care of our hotel and restaruant accounts and the customers loved me... They never saw my other side. The hellraising, alcohol guzzling, pot smoking, meth snorting, heavy metal rocking punk ass teenager that I was. I was damn good and still am, heck I even did my own wedding flowers. Did I mention that Holidays Suck working at a flower shop? Anyways, enough tooting my own horn, you couldn't pay me enough to work a holiday such as Valentines Day or any of the other majors like Christmas. I burnt out on it BIGTIME, I don't even want to arrange the flowers my wife buys for vases around the house. My real favorite always was the day after! Gauranteed you could come in at 7am and there would be one or two or more luckless pussywhipped guys that "FORGOT" and you could sell them anything for almost any amount ! I feel for ya...... NOT! I spent the day working in a floral/gift shop....we have flowers, candy, teddy bears....everything you woulda needed....and as you can imagine we got swamped yesterday and today....today was worse as people were rushing to get that last minute gift.... Today was interesting...the guys i encountered this year were worse than in the past.
