Brian425 0 #1 February 15, 2004 Well, I finally got hooked up with a canopy. It's a safire 189. Mike and Howard at the Ranch have been looking out for me and we have a deal. the only problem is, I agreed to try some Crew stuff with them after my canopy control class. They are taking this newbie to the dark side. Actually I am curious about Crew and Mike, Howard, Bubbles and everyone else has been great to me. So hopefully by mid June, I can try my first 2 stack. Now I just need to wait for the weather to warm up and get time from work. All I need is an altimeter and a helmet and I'll have all my gear!!! I might even consider saving the beer money for the last few things. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. I hate to give a lecture, but I will - you young people have no clue about what it takes to survive CRW. There is a piece of equipment much more important than your precious altimeter or helmet. Please see attached.
Brian425 0 #4 February 15, 2004 Gary, That's great!!! I have not luahged so hard in a long time. I think I'll take one with me on the first crew jump. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Like so many parts of skydiving, CRW will take your breath away. Relax, enjoy, listen to your teachers, be careful, have a blast!
selbbub78 0 #6 February 15, 2004 lol, what you don't realize is that, that should be a requirement when you jump with the 'black eye crwdogs (that's mike and howard not me fyi)'... Maybe i should make an attachment to my rig for that."Women fake orgasms - men fake whole relationships" – Sharon Stone "The world is my dropzone" (wise crewdog quote) "The light dims, until full darkness pierces into the world."-KDM
Islandcool 0 #7 February 15, 2004 Last memorial day phreezone offer to do CRW with me and I chickened out. I had just started skydiving and knew nothing about crew. I had only seen a coulpe of small stacks. I haven't had the opportunity since and I do regret it. Man, remembering Phree talking about it was great. There was the lesson learned. Take the experience when you can get it. Go for it guy. Ed
Brian425 0 #8 February 15, 2004 I'll definitely try it. I love to watch them making those stacks and other formations. Plus the guys and gal who asked me are pretty cool. I know they'll keep an eye on the new guy. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
