VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 February 15, 2004 I was wondering what everyone thought about fire dancing? Does anyone here know others that fire dance? I watched a friend and his girlfriend do some fire dancing last weekend, and I was really turned on by the moves once they got going. I am going in to a dance studio on Tuesday night to try my hand at some basic moves. I have been told that it's something that I would be very good at, so I am very, very excited to begin!!! Lainey 0 #4 February 15, 2004 Two of my friends fire dance. One of them was a gymnast previously and the other is just amazingly talented at everything he does so they're both quite good. They perform at dance parties and that kind of thing, just using the sticks and pois. I think it's great, whenever they're bored they both whip out the fire sticks and we'll watch them for as long as they can keep it up. I'd imagine it's quite draining both pysically and mentally... but yeah, good luck with it! i'd love to try but i think i'm way to unco-ordinated to play with fire. dove 0 #12 February 16, 2004 Oh! I have seen that before - at Crosskeys during the monkeyclaw jams! That stuff is SOOOOOO cool! And not harmful to the toes either! Fall in dove.
Douva 0 #13 February 16, 2004 There is a fire dancer who jumps at my home DZ. When the weather is warmer, she frequently treats us to an evening performance. It's really a lot of fun to watch. --DouvaI don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
CrazyThomas 0 #14 February 16, 2004 fire is hot, and if you stand in it TOO long, you will burn your clothes or body. I have tried juggling flaming balls (baseballs + gas), and that is kind of fun. It looks pretty sweet too, if I may say (biased opinion). Dancing around with fire sticks? yeah, that looks cool too. especially on some -------- ---- ----------- Thomas

Marz 0 #18 February 16, 2004 Fire dancing is awesome! I've been fire juggling, fire eating, fire dancing and fire walking for about ten years now. I made a living from it for five of those years. It put me through college. It's a very intense experience. If you're interseted in getting into this, find a teacher you trust and learn the basics of manipulation with practice tools before you set stuff on fire. The key to success is to understand that fire is a powerful element and is very much its own boss. Learn how it behaves in different conditions and obey the limits. believe me, I learned that from experience!!!! When you feel confident enough to use fire, begin with faster burning fuel like lighter fluid. Just remeber that the quicker a fuel burns, the more volatile it is. Take necessary precautions with your fuel container. Anyhow, if you have questions, feel free to PM me. I'll post some cool pics later if you want. I just gotta reduce them... turtlespeed 226 #19 February 16, 2004 Rosa, I think that if you decided excell in fire dancing you would be awesome - You are a bit on the shy side from what I have seen, not a bad thing, mind you, but some of the garments (Read: Lack Of Garments) for sensuality, as well as safety, wouldn't fit what I know of you so far. That being said: I could be wrong. I also think you should follow whatever whim you have at the moment and go for it. Yes, you would be great.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
