smiles 0 #1 February 19, 2004 Why don't musicians and movie producers distribute their content without the assistance of record labels or studios or with contracts negotiated?? Of course, they will need reliable brands, like indie labels, to get the word out to the buying public. Couldn't known artists choose not to renew their recording contracts ? (Prince was way ahead of his time). Some great motion picture releases, with well known stars and talented directors, go straight to DVD, bypassing the studio balance sheets altogether. I hope this trend will continue. The smart content creators will listen to the consumers of music and films and adapt digital rights to something both sides can live with.
