AggieDave 6 #5 February 20, 2004 I watched a bit of it. It was so lame I had to change the channel. They could have followed an AFF student through their progession and ended up with more exciting video then that!!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." DeNReN 0 #6 February 20, 2004 On the US Discovery channel...not the Canadian one...I wana see it so I can join in the bashing...wait..I actually like Cutaway and Dropzone....I'd prob like it
Kramer 0 #7 February 20, 2004 Am I the only one who thinks this guy is a bit of a dumbass pulling that low with a rig that has been "packed for over a year", then bragging about it on the ground for 5 minutes?? Maybe I'm in a weird mood... The FAKE KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMER!!!!!!!!!
RevJim 0 #8 February 20, 2004 I watched both episodes the last time they were on. For the most part? Yaaaaawwwwnnnnnnn. Skiing? Yawn. Snowboarding? Yawn. BASE? Most of it-yawn. Now that BASE (or at least BASE-rigged) off the hang glider? Sheeeeet. That freaked me out, and as far a freefall on a BASE rig, he did seem kinda low.... All in all, a big yawner, but was worth watching for me, just to see the Hang glider/BASE.It's your life, live it! pilotdave 0 #10 February 20, 2004 Just more proof that the theory that the longer a canopy is packed, the longer it takes to open is complete bullshit. Dave
hookitt 1 #11 February 20, 2004 QuoteAnd If I remeber correctly, watching that deployment, it was packed slider up. Eeeeew. why do you say Eeeeew? Slider up BASE is common place. I don't get Discovery here at the Holliday Inn Select. Just abot every thing else but discovery? what's up with that?My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... How common is slider up, long delay, extreme low pull BASE? It wasn't the slider up as much as it was the combination of slider up, long delay, and (what looked like) extreme low pull that made me go eeeew. I know, I'm not a BASE'r, yet, but whew....It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#

caress 0 #16 February 20, 2004 I really think that Miles is pretty arrogant. Bragging about a year old pack job, stupidity on the air waves. Thank goodness for DZ.COM so people that are really wanting to have fun and be safe have a real home. I really expected more realism about the sport from Discovery, not one persons' view. There is just so many of you with such great gifts. What about you guys? No one gets to see what is really out there. A big loss of true education on the sport.-Caress I've learned.... pilotdave 0 #17 February 20, 2004 Some Extreme Tribes BASE footage with some excellent quotes. 6 megs. Hang glider jump with 1 year old packjob. 11 megs. Dave
hookitt 1 #18 February 20, 2004 hehehe.. .funny stuff. Well I don't have to defend the mighty Miles. He's the genuine article. Warm caring, will do just about any thing for you. He's a positive lifeforce and a genuine nut... An extremely dialed nut, but a nut none the less. I gotta admit I've jumped a reserve that was packed for 2 years and 6 months. I borrowed a rig and had a reserve ride. That's when I figured it out. I haven't seen the program but miles is just a fun happy characture. Grr... no discovery channel...My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
caress 0 #19 February 20, 2004 Just because I think he is arrogant, does not make Miles a bad person. I just think that if you are going to do a show on skydiving/base jumping, showing-off by pulling really low is not a good thing. I'm sure he is a nice guy, like I said, I just expected more than one adventure. I was hoping for more peoples perspective to be opened up for the world to see.-Caress I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
pilotdave 0 #20 February 20, 2004 It was one show about one group of people. Not every show needs to give an objective view of the topic and cover all aspects. I just love the fact that Miles can use the expression "dialed in" more than once in a sentence. Dave
