DeNReN 0 #1 February 20, 2004 Well.....Halifax N.S. has a new 24 hour snowfall record...sofar 88 cm (34.75 in) have fallen in the past 18 hours(old record was set in 1944)...winds are now gusting to over 100 kph....its icky outside The power went out at approx. 4:30 pm....EEEP...no pwr=no heat....so I attempt to break free of my snowbound hut and trek(drive) the 30km to the G/F's apartment building.......after moving approx. 3 tons of snow only to have it drift back in front of my car...I started looking for those damn kids that wake me up to shovel my driveway when there is only one inch of snow down...hmmm...must be inside playing vid games and driving there parents nuts....I give up and take a nap hoping that all will be sunny and warm when I awaken. I awake to the sounds of skidoo's on the street....and darkness...hmmm..still no power or heat...phone the power company...well there recorded message...holy crap!!!!..they actually mention my area...message says that the power will be restored by noon tommorrow...OK..time to look at the driveway issue again....not only is all the area that I cleared earlier(2hours) filled back in .....but the main drift at the end of my drive has grown by 3 ft.....as I start to dig out my camping gear...POOF...the power comes back onI'm in a tenitive state of happyness...back to the beer and PW'ing that I started earlier

DeNReN 0 #3 February 20, 2004 Next time I'll phone customs and have the storm stopped at the boarder Even the skidoo's that are out and about are having a hard time on the roads.....just had to bundle up and help a guy outa the drift in front of my hut......he took the turn a tad too fast Edited to Add...up to 91 cm now
PhillyKev 0 #4 February 20, 2004 Big drunken snow storms are fun....haven't had any good ones like that around here in a long time. If it's going to be cold and icy, might as well have some fun with it. A few years ago we got over 5' of snow in a couple days. I lived in a second floor apartment and we were doing flips out the window into the snow. This was before I ever jumped. It was a blast... Have fun.... . Snowbird 0 #5 February 20, 2004 QuoteEdited to Add...up to 91 cm now Damn. I knew there was a reason I live on the WEST coast, not the East. Ontario ignores us equally, but we were +10 today! DeNReN 0 #6 February 20, 2004 Hmmm...can you fed x a inch of snow cross country?...I love to hear about Vankong crawling to a halt because of minor snow
Cornholio 0 #7 February 20, 2004 Sounds like fun!! Suprised that you don't have a kerosene heater and 10 gallons of kerosene for a time like this. When I lived on the east coast, that was required equipment. Now out here in California, the required equipment is Flashlights and water - for EARTHQUAKES!! I don't think I've seen a kerosene heater since I've been out here - 20+ years. LOL Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump
