Kerry Implodes ????

You can post a thousand links and unfortunately I don't think it will convince him. Remember, it's a right-wing conspiracy

Yeah, 'twould seem so....especially as I had already put a link up, much earlier today.

I'm still wondering about who Kerry sent out of the country....any hint as to who it was? And where she went? And who paid for it? Or is that stuff we'll learn later? And will that be branded a "right wind conspiracy", too?

'This won't go away. What happened is much nastier than is being reported'
By Adrian Blomfeld in Nairobi and Andrew Alderson
(Filed: 15/02/2004)

Alex Polier, the twenty-four year old journalist who could end Senator John Kerry's hopes of becoming the next president of the United States is alleged to have had a two-year affair with the front-runner for the Democratic nomination. Last night the rumours were in danger of becoming a full-blown scandal.

Alex Polier, 24, is alleged to have had an affair with John Kerry
"This is not going to go away," one American friend of Miss Polier said yesterday. "What actually happened is much nastier than is being reported."

The allegations come at a crucial time for the senator. Polls showed him leading Mr Bush by 52 per cent to 42 per cent, and aides will be anxious to see if the apparent scandal affects his standing among voters.

Miss Polier, a former intern who also spent some time in 1998 doing work experience at the Houses of Parliament in London, is in Kenya staying with Yaron Schwartzman, her fiance and a member of the country's fashionable young set. The couple have refused to make any comment on her alleged links with Senator Kerry, who is married to Teresa Heinz Kerry, an heiress to the food empire.

Senator Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran dubbed the new JFK, has vehemently denied any relationship with Miss Polier, and shrugged off allegations that he had a two-year affair with her from 2001. "I just deny it categorically. It's rumour. It's untrue. Period," he said.

Mr Kerry, 60, has won 12 out of the 14 Democratic primaries and has looked all but certain to seal the nomination to take on President George W. Bush in November's elections.

His aides have blamed a dirty tricks campaign for bringing the allegations about Miss Polier into the public eye; they first surfaced last week on a Right-wing internet site, the Drudge Report, which famously first broke the news of Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Miss Polier's parents, Terry and Donna, from Malvern, Pennsylvania, added fuel to the fire by claiming that Mr Kerry did pursue their daughter.

"I think he's a sleazeball. I did wonder if she didn't get that feeling herself," said Mr Polier. "He's not the sort of guy I'd choose to be with my daughter.

"John Kerry called my daughter and invited her to be on his re-election committee. She talked to him and decided against it."

The Drudge website also quoted retired Gen Wesley Clark, one of Mr Kerry's rivals for the nomination, as having told journalists off the record: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue."

Mr Clark later dropped out of the race and endorsed Mr Kerry.

Miss Polier, a journalist who once worked for Associated Press, is a graduate of Columbia University, New York. She apparently met the senator as she was beginning her media career. Miss Polier and her fiance were believed to be hiding yesterday at the Nairobi home of Mr Schwartzman's parents, who moved to Kenya from Israel.

She appears to have few friends of her own in Kenya: she has never lived in the country and makes only occasional visits. "She seemed perfectly nice, although she was a little cool," said a Schwartzman family friend.

"She didn't seem to be very willing to open up but whether it was because she was aloof or just shy, I couldn't work out."

I haven't really been paying much attention to the news since this story broke, so I couldn't give you any info on his "alleged" tart. Also, the newspapers in Massachusetts are slanted extremely to the left, so they have not really been spending much time on the story.

Sorry I haven't given you more info.

BTW, Happy Valentines Day.:)

Clinton was a slimy character. He was found innocent. That means under our justice system he is innocent. There will always be people who think guilty people are innocent and innocent people are guilty, but under our justice system (which isn't perfect, but all in all works pretty well) the only opinion that matters in the end is that of a judge, jury or (in this case) congress.

I think more importantly, it will be how history judges Bill Clinton. I do not think it will be kind to him.

I thought the quote from her parents was interesting. If they know Kerry had an affair with their daughter and he is now lying, it isn't going to be pretty. Kerry may have been able to silence her, if it's true, but it doesn't sound like her dad scares easily.

That was a very interesting part. I had originally excerpted that to post, but you brought the whole thing in.

This is going to get mighty interesting...and we're still 8 months away from the election...

Yep. Excuse my shallowness for a second, but if you click on the link to the story, there's a picture of her. Now she isn't exactly homely, but I definitely wouldn't give her a second look. What is it with these Dems and their little "loolahs"? I mean Monica Lewinsky and now Alex Polier? Not exactly the face I'd risk it all for. I mean at least Kennedy had some taste in women. (shallowness off).

I think he will end up alongside Ulysses S Grant and Ronald Reagan, both presidents who had massive controversies accompanying their presidencies. The Reagan/Bush administration, of course, funded the contra's terrorism in direct opposition to US law; Oliver North took most of the blame. Bush (the VP at the time) later pardoned many of the people implicated in their scams. Reagan and Bush I are still heros to many conservatives.

Grant defrauded the government of millions via the Credit Mobilier of America scandal, and later via the Whiskey Ring scandal. (Do a Google search if you've never heard of these.) I think he is remembered more for passage of the 15th amendment than for any of that.

He was found "Not guilty" he was never found innocent. I am sure you are not so naive as to not know the difference. He said himself that he lied under oath. In your eyes what does that make him. His own opinion, I feel, matters in this case. Get off it Bill, you can't really believe that crap. The "fact" is the man lied under oath and all the rhetoric in the world will not change that.

Benny,

I'm going to help you out here. There's a book called "Webster's Dictionary". Look up the word "lie". It does not mention anything about which is a bigger lie or not.

Chris

For once we agree.

In my lifetime the following Presidents have lied to the Congress or the American people:

Eisenhower
Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon
Reagan
Bush1
Clinton
Bush2

I'm not sure about Ford and Carter. Maybe someone else knows.

I've a;ways felt that Jimmy ("I must admit I have lusted in my heart.") Carter was the most decent human being whom we have elected as president in my lifetime. Unfortunately, that decency did not translate into a great presidency as he was eaten alive in Washington by the typical politicians.

I don't agree with your earlier post that history won't be kind to Clinton. I think it will be Shrub who will suffer from an historical perspective. His record is attrocious and the only thing he appears to have not lied about is sex.

No doubt Carter was an intelligent man. I think his contributions to humanity since leaving office are much greater than those while in office. I disagree he was eaten alive by politicians. He was eaten alive by his inability to be effective. Proof that the more intelligent and humanitatian people aren't usually the best leaders.

Glad your crystal ball is working so well. How can you make a judgement on GWB when he hasn't even completed his first term? He's got 5 more years to go. Many things can happen in 5 years. Time will tell on Clinton. I doubt he will be very highly regarded because he really accomplished very little as a President that he can truely take credit for.

At least his economic predictions were in line with what happened, rather than the direct opposite of what happened (hint -see "deficit" and "unemployment").
