Best Buy drama

Recommended Posts

Here ya go, as I said previously, I was hired by the local BB. I got a phone call Thurs afternoon telling me to report for orientation Saturday. From the beginning of the interviewing process I let it be known that I can NOT work Fri,Sat or Sun due to my first job at the DZ.

I talked to the admin guy that does the orientation, he told me I attend or I don't get hired, at all. I turned down another job during this time since I was getting hired by BB.

So, what am I doing? I called the regional director and told her the entire story, she understands my situation and why I'm pissed. She's having the district manager call me.

So basically, I think I'm going to turn down the job and go out of my way to get the admin I talked to in trouble. If I haven't even started and I'm getting dicked around, I don't want to deal with it when/if I'm actually working there!

I guess all in all, I'm a mean SOB when someone pisses me off.

Sounds like my part time grocery work. They tried to get em to go to a big saturday hooha corporate orientation where they talk about why it's good to smile and how to progress up the line to management, blah blah blah, none of which i'm interested in. I remained adament about my saturdays. They were so disappointed, apparently everyone wants to go to the orientation because there are free sandwiches. I told them that I'll make my own sandwich and stay home.

They finally realized I'm a little brighter than the average grocery cashier and let me read the manual on my own (which i did in 30 mins, not 8 hours).

yeah don't let em dick you around. when i was hired here, i had them sign the paper with me saying that they acknowledged the fact that i couldn't work weekends and that i got time off for collegiates etc. it's on my hr sheet with my schedule of availble time. i also don't have to work weekends, ever so when everyone else is denied time off for christmas and newyears, it's auto-approved.

I didn't want to rain on your parade when you got the job, so I didn't say anything at first, but Best Buy sucks!

Way too much bureaucracy, not enough common sense.

A couple years ago, I ordered a custom computer from them. It was going to take two weeks for it to be completed and delivered to the store.
I was supposed to pick it up from there.

So go up front to pay for it with a check and they refuse to accept my check in payment.

Since I'd never bounced a check anywhere, have excellent credit, and had just deposited a $10,000 check in my account from a home refinance, I was sure it was a silly mistake.

I asked for the manager.
Long story short, they acknowledged that I had no negative information on my credit history or checking account, but since my check numbers were low, company policy wouldn't allow them to take a check for such a large purchase.

Nevermind that the check would clear (or not) in 3 days, and the computer wouldn't be ready for 14 days.
Nevermind that I'd had that checking account for over a decade.

They were impervious to reason.

I haven't shopped there since, but I do go in once a week and unroll all of the toilet paper in the mens restroom, stuff it in the toilet, flush 3 times, and run like hell!B|

lots of places dont take low numbered checks which is silly becuase banks simply started offering checks numbers at 500+, 1000+ etc... doesnt matter if its the 3rd check you've ever written in your life, since the number says 1003 your golden...:S

bureaucracy sucks..

I opened the checking account that I still use when I was 16. Guess what number I started the account on? 1000, simply due to bullshit like that.
