Vlad 0 #1 July 15, 2002 Well, there I was in the theater, waiting for the "cool skydiving scene". What a disapointment !! The only jump in this movie was without doubt 100% computer generated. It did not look like a freefall at all. Why did director choose to use the computer animation (which sucked completely), if he could call a couple of us skydivers ?? No need to pay us - just give us a free jump !
Viking 0 #2 July 15, 2002 probly b/c we might jump for free but the camera guy sure as won't!!! And a camera flyer good enough to shoot a movie is gonna cost you alot fuckin money!I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
pilotdave 0 #3 July 15, 2002 Went with my (non-skydiving) brother. His favorite scene in the whole movie was the skydiving scene. I liked it cause they wore Z1's just like mine ('cept with the optional soft touch finish) Yes, it wasn't very realistic, but at least they wore real skydiving gear with nothing obviously wrong with it. skymama 37 #4 July 15, 2002 I overheard a couple of guys talking about this movie yesterday at the dz. They could not emphasize enough how bad it is! Finally one of them said, "if you only have 2 hours to live, go and watch this movie....it will make it seem like an eternity!"She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
weid14 0 #5 July 15, 2002 well, there's another movie coming out soon with skydiving (at least a cool base jumping scene) in it that defiantely doesn't look fake (at least from the trailer). Vin Diesel is in it, I forget the name.
skydiverbrian 0 #6 July 15, 2002 QuoteAnd a camera flyer good enough to shoot a movie is gonna cost you alot fuckin money! Then they could find a few up-and-coming camera flyers, pay for their jumps and maybe some beer. Chances are they'd luck out and get some good footage. Certainly better than anything computer-generated, anyway! In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
GrumpySmurf 0 #7 July 15, 2002 Yeah, all I could think after seeing the trailer was, "Wow, that's 2 minutes I'll never see again." Don't see how anyone in the production company, after reading the plot or the script, could have dreamt this was going to be a good flick?
AggieDave 6 #8 July 15, 2002 The movie is Triple X (no, not like that, although that would be an interesting concept for a skydiving movie...). It looks like it will be a fun movie, even if the story line isn't that great (read: Fast and the Furious).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." GrumpySmurf 0 #10 July 15, 2002 Yeah, the only good movie Van Diseal (sp?) showed up in was 'Saving Private Ryan', though 'Pitch Black' wasn't all that terrible either - well, ok, the first half was passable, the rest of it sucked.

And when you see it, Think of Harry O Conner who lost his life while doing one of the stunts to make it a Cool n Fun movie. I saw Reign of Fire and it was ok. I wasn't expecting a blockbuster and TBH, I was at the drive in's to hang with friends, drink beer and have a good time .I do have to say that I didn't know there was skydiving in it so I was pleasantly surprised to see it even though it was CG. Then again, 3 jumpers exiting a chopper at 5k and tracking for a good 3 minutes to shoot a net around a flying dragon, WEll, I believed it..... I even yelled "PULL DAMMIT PULL" just before the one went in...I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Slappie 9 #12 July 15, 2002 I was thinking that the movie xXx was the one where we lost a brother to an accident.. riddler 0 #13 February 20, 2004 I waited till this one came out on video. Then I put it at the bottom of my Netflix queue. Two years later I finally saw it last night. Yup - it sucked. I would say worst all-time skydiving movie, or movie with skydiving in it. The macho characters made me ill - particularly Matthew McConaughey. The acting was mediocre. The plot had a lot of potential, but they didn't pull it off. Oh yeah, the skydiving scenes were terrible.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. pilotdave 0 #18 February 20, 2004 I liked the movie. The skydiving (and the rest of the movie) might not be so realistic, but I think it was overall pretty good. Funny thing though... My EXTREME whuffo brother LOVED the skydiving scene. He thinks I'm totally nuts for skydiving and would never try it. But he thought that was just the coolest thing. I mostly liked what they did to their Z1 helmets. They made em look really cool. Dave

Zenister 0 #21 February 21, 2004 whats silly is assuming the dragons were real there are soooooooooo many easier ways to kill on thats after you....can you say canopy wrap and cutaway? maybe thats why the skydiving scenes sucked they had to find a few who couldnt see all the holes in the plot...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. There was an exceptional amount of skydiving filmed for this film, only some of it was used and some of it generated. Stuart meacock from Sibson in the UK has a film company and they did filming for the skydiving scenes, the guy in the film with the pony tail is Alex Meacock his brother, they both have around 6/7000 jumps. The producers originally wanted them to try a fighting scene with large swords in the air, but was apperantly near impossible to do.
