labrys 0 #2 February 23, 2004 You sure it's a crash? Why not make an NT boot disk and see? Is it NTFS or FAT?Owned by Remi #?
vonSanta 0 #3 February 23, 2004 I have one I'm not using. Mostly because there's 40 gigs of important stuff on it - and bad sectors, cannot be read . Gonna do some low level stuff to get to the goodies. Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

souleh 0 #5 February 23, 2004 Pop the drive in a friend's machine and grab all the files you want to keep off it. Then do a scandisk to mark bad sectors out of use, a low level format to clear off the junk (and another scandisk), reinstall windows and copy everything back. Sorry I can't really suggest anything less time consuming, but hopefully it'll help. Edit to add: Well.. try - if it wont even read that way, then you may have to look at other options. I've just remembered a great free program that can help recover from things like that.. but can't remember name. I'll post again if I think of it!! SkydiveMonkey 0 #6 February 23, 2004 There should be no reason why any end user should need to low level format.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
Kris 0 #7 February 23, 2004 QuoteThere should be no reason why any end user should need to low level format. Correction....there should be no need to low-level format an IDE or SATA drive. I have to low-level format the SCSI drives I have when I move them between different controller brands (Adaptec, DPT, etc...) or on first use at home.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
SkydiveMonkey 0 #8 February 23, 2004 I haven't played around with SCSI that much, but I'm still not convinced. If his drive can still be used as a slave, it prolly jsut a case of reinstall the os anyway.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
