Riding horses in the Andes

Recommended Posts

I got back from Argentina yesterday and wanted to let you all know how much I missed you!

I have so many stories but the one that I'm thinking of right now is being thrown from the horse while riding in the Andes. The gaucho hadn't tightened the saddle and I was in a full run when I felt myself slip and the next thing I knew my lower back was being slammed against a ridge of hard soil and rocks. The horse was standing next to me with a surprised look on his face. I think he was smirking too. The gaucho ran up and threw the saddle back on, tightened it and let me climb right back on. I was rather shaken but got over it fast and ran him off and on the rest of the way. Drank myself silly that night and got an hour massage the next day and that helped my back a bit.

It's hard to be back on California time. I'm starving and want some wine!

So what did you guys do all week?

The horse I rode was really amazing. He did everything I asked him to do. Not anything like the horses you get when you go riding at a place where they hire them out.
Actually the entire trip was outstanding. I spent the first three days eating meat and drinking wine and the last 3 days eating meat and drinking wine.
Somewhere in there I ate some meat and drank some wine.

We spent the time mulling over what kind of souveniers you're bringing us from Argentina. ;)

Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

Think it has anything to do with your user name?

I'm starting to wonder. Maybe I should change my user name to girlwinsthelottery.

Oh yeah we were very well fed.

The courses went like this.

Empanadas (always 3 different kinds so you had to try all 3)
plate of cheese and sliced meat
1 red sausage and 1 blood sausage
beef asada
more beef asada
beef rib asada
pork ribs
pork meat
chicken
then the guy would walk around and offer you whatever was left.
Then you got some kind of dessert followed by these deep fried wanton things soaked in sugar.

You might have a small plate of tomatoes, eggplant and potato salad on the side but that was just for looking at.

Note that this was just lunch. You did it again around 10pm.

I'm getting full just typing it.
