Clownburner 0 #1 February 23, 2004 Have you ever seen a dog toy after a few good hours of having a dog chew on it, really hard? That's what I feel like right now. I'm sore in places I didn't know there were places. It's a side-effect of spending 2 hours in the wind tunnel over the last 5 days. The 4-way camp at Perris was weathered out, so we ended up only doing four jumps, but we made up the difference in tunnel time. I learned a tremendous amount. But ow. I'm really sore. On the bright side, I'm a much better skydiver now. At least I think so. Those of you who've jumped with me before won't even believe it's the same person. No more zero-point solos for me. I'm not going to the nationals or anything, but I think I've got a much better chance of geting a few points before falling out of the skydive. Special thanks to all the great coaches, especially the ones who had to put up with me - Shannon Pilcher, Andy Delk, and Christopher Irwin. Man, those guys make it look so easy. And yes, I know I suck for getting to go. Of course, this means no new canopy for a while, but my big slow triathlon does an outstanding job of keeping my jumpsuit clean. 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
VectorBoy 0 #2 February 23, 2004 Sore? Sore from belly flyin the tunnel? You wimp! Try a sit in the tunnel. No try just holding your hands out to your sides with your feet still on the mesh waiting to do a sit in the tunnel and then get back to us on sore in the tunnel. Man some people. VanillaSkyGirl 6 #6 February 23, 2004 QuoteIt's a side-effect of spending 2 hours in the wind tunnel over the last 5 days. Wow, two hours...I am soooo jealous! You must have improved soooo much. I know that you're kidding, but I have taken both an Airspeed tunnel and one FF tunnel camp. I feel that working on belly skills, esp. doing 4-way like Clownburner (wow!) in the tunnel....can be REALLY strenuous on your body. I felt sore in different places for each camp. Actually, I felt possibly more sore throughout my WHOLE body (maybe because of my weight belt and my constant arching to stay down) with the concentrated belly flying in the tunnel. Even the Airspeed guys, esp. Mark, Neil, Craig, Kirk, etc. (but never Todd...weird) would come out of the tunnel drenched in sweat during the night sessions when they would be doing 4-way with the more advanced camp students, etc. Edited because I called Glen "Ed"...oops... Clownburner 0 #8 February 23, 2004 Yes, even Dan BC said his back hurt when he got out.. Although he was doing about 3.5x the amount of tunnel time I was (he was in with multiple people and groups). Turning points turns out to be pretty difficult when you are going fast through multiple points and stuff like that!7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth

But it's going to be hard to get time off again until either Lost Prarie or Rantoul. I'm leaning towards lost prarie but it'll be easier to get to Rantoul I think...7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth

Quote I'm not kidding but I know what you are referring too though. I get tired by my second minute in the tunnel on my belly. But the simple fact of the matter is that while the FF artists and the hopefuls that are average height and under 150 ( and especially sub100 pounders this includes all of those on teams, the vast majority of the coaches and the guards) can rip it in the tunnel those of us that weigh in over 170 , and god bless the poor 200+ pound FF, MUST have our stuff out more. Like WAY OUT to make FF work in the slower tunnel speeds. In the sky a little relaxing means we just freak fly faster for our body type. In the tunnel it just means that the big guys die while their feet are still on the ground while we jealously watch the little people frolic. On the plus side we tend to get a lot of back flying practice in. Alchemy said the tunnel is humbling. I just wish that I would have been humbled in the air and not on the mesh. Little people get your freak on! Even my teeny arms and back muscles hurt when I was holding my body up in a "sit"...it must really SUCK for the fast fallers. I LOVE backflying, though, so I, like you, didn't mind going to my back when I get tired! Quote Little people get your freak on! Lol...OK...someday. I am concerntrating on RW now, but I can't wait until the day when I can fly on my head in the tunnel (...very far from now as I am not working on FF). At my weight (between 95-97 lbs), the tunnel air won't even have to be pumped up for me...lol! Today, I went and watched the Monday Meeker people fly. It was awesome, but I was cold just watching them. Maybe when I return from Mardi Gras, I will venture in to the tunnel at Perris.
