ladyskydiver 0 #1 February 23, 2004 God, grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change COURAGE to change the things I can and WISDOM to know the difference ** We so often see the short version of this prayer. I never knew until recently that there is a longer version. I've just recently discovered the rest of the poem. Thought you'd appreciate seeing it. ** God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things I cannot change... Courage to change the things I can, And Wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will. That I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen. Attributed to Reinhold NeibuhrLife is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile. steve1 5 #5 February 23, 2004 There's so many people, that really need to take a look at this prayer. I'm not an alcoholic or even religious for that matter, but just realizing there are things out there I can control and things I can't, help's me live a better life. It's important for me to realize that many things are beyond my control and these problems have a way of working out on their own. Also just knowing that there is a higher power out there that is greater than myself brings a lot of peace into my life. Those who grow up in dysfunctional homes often end up trying to control everything in their life later on. Usually this is because things were so out of control when they were younger. Ever met someone who is a control freak. There is a reason for their behavior...Steve1

wendybird 0 #7 February 24, 2004 Yup, know it. Know it well. Forgot it for awhile, but remebered it again. Thanks for posting it. Nice reminder of what I shouldn't ever forget. God, I love being cryptic ... My friends always joke that the abbreviated version of that is actually: F*** it!Wendy "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used u
