Guest #3 February 24, 2004 Story about it on NPR this morning. A more innocuous name might have helped (), but the story alleges that the INC (Iraqi National Congress) was funneling bogus HUMINT through the VP's office without oversight. If true, this means that the normal safeguards of analysis were bypassed, and the INC (among others) told the VP's Chief of Staff what he wanted to hear. Don't forget that the VP used to be SECDEF, and probably still has a lot of friends at the Pentagon. The directors of the CIA, the FBI, and the DIA are all supposed to give a joint report this morning to Congress as a kind of threat assessment. It is expected that they will brief the security panel on Al-Qaeda, Iran, and North Korea, but it wouldn't surprise me if after their statements, some questions about this Pentagon project get asked. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
