Tinkerbelle 5 #1 February 23, 2004 Why are so many people so mean spirited and critical on this forum? If you so much as expose a single vulnerability, just being honest and forthright everyone jumps on you with personal attacks and sinister remarks. What's up with that? I thought this was a place to voice our concerns and be open and honest with one another.

peacefuljeffrey 0 #3 February 23, 2004 I think that the nature of the medium, i.e. simply typing whatever comes to mind, makes it easy to say mean stuff you would ordinarily keep to yourself. I fall into the trap too, even though I try not to. I think we may do it here but still we're all friends when it's said and done. I've seen apologies go back and forth, and issued some of my own when I thought I got too harsh. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" quade 4 #4 February 23, 2004 It's the anonymous nature of the internet. So, either one of two things happen: People don't know them so, they can "fire at will" with seeming impunity (it eventually does come back to bite them though). People don't know you, so (obviously) you're a target. I think folks that have an idea of who you are and have met you are far more easy going (usually). Now, what you might not realize, because you're fairly new here, is that folks come and go and people "troll" and we've recently been caught up in a flurry of ficticious characters that are -quite- controversial. If you are the person in your avatar/icon, and I have no real reason to doubt that (cause like, your bio fits you from what I know about you so, somebody didn't just steal it off the web to use), then I know who you are and I accept the fact that you're, how should I put this, well known for being a "free spirit", so I can pretty much accept anything you say here on-line in that light. No controversy whatsoever. Others, however, might find some of your posts kind of odd and really I wouldn't blame them from being sort of skeptical of what the heck you're getting at.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
jb092 0 #5 February 23, 2004 It is easy to be mean to people when they are not face to face with you. I am willing to bet that these people who are mean wouldn't have the guts to be that way in person. What could possibly go wrong?
Michele 1 #6 February 23, 2004 Um, Tink, are you referring to me? Cause if so, I'd suggest you bring it to me via pm. I'm not mean. I am not mean spirited. I don't go out of my way to shoot people down. And JB, the few times I've gotten a bee in my bonnet, you betcha I'd say it to their face - and have. I am pretty much the same on as off line, as those who know me will attest. OTOH, Tink, if you weren't referring to me, then I'd suggest maybe you'd take it to pms to those who you are referring to, or let it go... GravityGirl 0 #8 February 23, 2004 I've been reading your posts in regards to Patrick. I figure it's one of two things. #1 - This crass person has suffered extreme pain related to loss in his life. Now he is bitter and creul. #2 - This crass person has suffered no extreme loss in his life and thinks he is invincable. In either case. They have no clue what you are feeling, what you have been through, and how you interpret and deal with your loss. You are clearly a good soul and a benefit to our community.... if not the very foundation we stand on. Rock on sister. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
