Zeemax 0 #1 February 26, 2004 ok, so the dollar to pound is still pretty crazy, but good for me. I know its got something to do with the goverment not something or something else blah blah... anyone know when it may be likely to change back down? ie. when will it be sorted? I know this is crystal ball stuff, but i'm sure the rise is linked to something, so if thats sorted it'll go back down. Just trying to work out if i should buy some $ now rather than in 3 weeks... thanks all Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies

mr2mk1g 10 #3 February 26, 2004 why do you want it to go back down? I think its sorted now! - we get half price everything if we buy from the US at the moment... whoo. maybe I'm misreading your post. [confused icon that i wish there was] On a serious note - yes... does anyone know the money markets are likly to do? I'm too wondering if I should buy now or wait for the dollar to fall more... if it can... or if I ought get it now while its low?
Zeemax 0 #4 February 26, 2004 lol, no... i want it to fall even more to the pound so we get an even better deal, but it cant stay this way for ever. I'm sure the reason for the exchange is something to do with goverment not doing something, so the import prices become very high so every buys american or sommit. Who knows, i just wondered if anyone knew when the situation may get ironed out. Is bush on his way out? when does that happen? THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL THREAD! is there not elections soon? and the confused icon looks like this... vt1977 0 #6 February 26, 2004 Macca – I’m having a pretty similar dilemma atm. I’m off to California in April for a really quite expensive tunnel camp and obviously I want to pay for it at the best possible exchange rate! So… I’m keeping a very, very close eye on it and the moment the bank’s tourist exchange rate hits a certain level I am going to buy a load of dollars! Sorry - can't be any more helpful than that! Zeemax 0 #7 February 26, 2004 let me guess, your waiting for 2:1 Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
vt1977 0 #8 February 26, 2004 2:1 would make my year… but I’m expecting to get something between 1.8:1 and 1.9:1 – tourist rate obviously! Vicki
mr2mk1g 10 #9 February 26, 2004 If I can find 2:1 I'll buy a Safire II instantly from Square 1. That would make it £700 brand new in custom colous and less than many seccond hand canopies!
vt1977 0 #10 February 26, 2004 If it gets to 2:1 I’ll be coming home with a brand new shiny Aerodyne Pilot… Vicki

yoink 321 #14 February 26, 2004 [adds name to the list of new canopy purchases as the dollar collapses] mmm... spanking new Lotus 2.... [drools]... xome on 2:
mr2mk1g 10 #15 February 26, 2004 see I'm thining I'd have to order it and then it won't arrive while I'm out there.... sooooo.... I'd have to take another trip later in the year to pick it up... whoo (besides the £199 return plane ticket is probably about what shipping and tax would come to so I reckon it counts as a free holiday). (either that or I get my mates to ship it through his military connections for free.... but then no free holiday then )
EdC 0 #16 February 26, 2004 Elections here are at the start of November and I can't wait. The damn political ads are all over the place on the radio and tv and it is only February. Big Ed
Nick 0 #17 February 26, 2004 Only problem with the exchange rate at the moment is that it's bad for the UK economy, means that people in the US have to pay much more for any good exported from the UK leading to a slow down in UK industry. But will be good for me as I'm off out to Perris in April!!! Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!

Nick 0 #19 February 26, 2004 There's going to be 4 (possibly 5 if our camera flyer comes) of us out there. I'm pretty sure team Beaver will be out there too. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
alanab 0 #20 February 26, 2004 yep, sucks for us americans over here in london. everything is double priced for us. im going broke overe here.
mr2mk1g 10 #21 February 26, 2004 Quote Are there going to be any skydivers left in the UK in April Few. There are probably going to be arround 50 brits between Elsinore and Perris over easter. Last year I remember Jack Gramley at perris saying he wanted to creat a new boogey called "the brits are comming" where loads of brits came over because anyone with a UK passport got cheap jumps. Looks like with the numbers and the exchange rate he's getting his wish even after he's left the DZ!
vt1977 0 #22 February 26, 2004 A few more than 50 I’d say! How many are on the BCPA trip? There are 6 Brits on my tunnel camp, a Royal Engineers Exped of 30ish plus a few random others. This could be a lot of fun! Vicki

mr2mk1g 10 #24 February 26, 2004 Sounds like more like 70 odd then. I think there's gotta be arround 30-40 on the BCPA trip, plus 30odd royal engineers, plus Nicks 5 or 6, plus your 6... conservativly thats more than 70! Sorry America
damion75 0 #25 February 26, 2004 I am pretty sure that Reg is taking a bunch of RA to perris in April as well to get display qualified. That was the plan anyway...
