Kris 0 #2 February 29, 2004 I was going to upgrade mine as well....new processor & motherboard, a gig of fast ram....and then I had a moment of weakness. Now I have to suffer until the UPS man drops off my new toy on Tuesday. fudd 0 #3 February 29, 2004 I'm going to upgrade my PC soon...its just that every time I'm going to do it I end up spending the money on something skydiving related. souleh 0 #5 February 29, 2004 Yeah I was thinking about upping mine to 1gig ddr + new cpu, but my motherboard is fairly old, so to get a cpu worthwhile I'd need a new one. And I've just spent all me money on a variety of new toys (including minidv cam and firewire card ). Thinking my next upgrade will be an xp3000+ and new mobo though. Or get one of those "shuttle" cube PCs - the really small ones - be so much easier to cart around 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
souleh 0 #6 February 29, 2004 Get a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 digital - they're really cheap (mine was £25 as my mobo onboard sound broke) - and give great 5.1 output, with a digital optical out too. Playing with the EAX stuff is fun 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
Kris 0 #7 February 29, 2004 Which motherboard do you have Wingi? There's no reason that your onboard sounds shouldn't be working. Are you showing any conflicts in the device manager?Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
wingnut 0 #8 March 1, 2004 kris, i'm runing msi's "K7N2 Delta-ILSR"... not realy worried about it anymore.... went out and bought a sound blaster card for 20 bucks..... solves my problem even if there is a i/o conflict.... ah gone are the days of editing the config.sys file and setting stuff yourself....... man it would be one hell of a file well config.sys and autoexe.bat .......... but luckily.... "windows" does it for me...... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
