Burglar Sues Homeowner

Recommended Posts

Paraphrased from the news:

The Geckle brothers run a small business, which had been burgled two nights in a row, with some valuable items stolen. So one of the brothers decided to stand guard with a gun in case the burglars returned again. Sure enough, three burglars showed up in the night. Tony Geckle ordered them to stop, but instead the intruders ran towards him. Geckle shot all three burglars killing one of them. The grand jury heard the case, and declined to indict Geckle for any wrongdoing.

The family of the dead burglar is now suing the Geckle brothers for $13 million, alleging that the dead burglar's child will now suffer because he doesn't have a daddy.

Heh. I doubt that they'll win. If they do, then something is seriously very wrong with society!

If they do get the suit past then the owner should counter sue for pain and anguish for having to kill someone.

It's happened before. A burglar was climbing through a window, fell onto the kitchen counter, sliced himself on the knives on said counter, and sued for coverage against homeowner's insurance and the homeowner for costs not covered by insurance.

You know what? HE WON.

This is not the first time I have seen something like this and, frankly, it pisses me off. That a lawyer would even take this case is why I have such disdain for the profession and it gives honest lawyers (is that an oxymoron?) a bad name.

The Geckle family should sue the burglar's family for not teaching him better. I allege that had the parents done their job and the wife been more effective in her duties and the son gotten a job, maybe this guy would not have become a burglar.:S

I've heard this very often, does anyone have a link to back this up? Snopes turns up nothing, and Google has too many other links involving "gun" "burglar" "knife" and "lawsuit"

Not surprised! The left-wing, panty-waist, bed wetters have seen to it that the criminals are the ones that have all of the rights these days! The victum does not stand a chance! Theyh wil probably win the suit! There IS something seriously wrong with this society!

This is a civil matter, not criminal, rights have nothing to do with it.

Maybe you should complain about the juries, they're the group that makes this crap a reality.
