falxori 0 #1 March 1, 2004 going to be in the area of Perris & elsinore in mid april (5th-16th) and i could use some help with where to stay. the bunkhouse option in either of the DZ is considered, but since we'll be 2-3 splitting a room i guess a motel room would cost about the same (we'll have a car ). anyone knows of a descent (20-35$) motel in the area (beside those listed on the DZs webpages) ? thanks O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." skybytch 273 #2 March 1, 2004 The bunkhouse at Perris is clean, comfortable, relatively new and an easy stumble from the Bombshelter. I'd highly recommend it, even if you do have a car. At $8/night/person... you won't find cheaper accomodations around Perris. There is a less expensive motel in Elsinore - I believe it's at the casino, and IIRC it's around $30/night. I'm sure someone who jumps Elsinore can give you details on that one.

Do be warned though that there will be a lot of Brits at that time, as the BCPA Foreign Trip is coming to town.

skyyhi 0 #5 March 1, 2004 Just stayed in the casino Saturday. . .$50 for 2 beds. . .not a bad deal. . .but I agree with Lisa, the bunkhouses at either Elinore or Perris are the way to go. I have stayed at the bunkhouse at Elsinore and it was fine. . .I hear Perris' is even better. . . Edited to add: I know about the skydiver rate but since someone who was not a skydiver booked the room, just thought I would put that out there. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
mr2mk1g 10 #6 March 1, 2004 SkydiveUWE will take care of you if you stay at Perris. We've booked out the IHOP but the bunkhouse is available and like they said, stumbling distance from the Bombshelter.
Clownburner 0 #7 March 1, 2004 Just be advised that the bunkhouse at Perris is not well suited for light sleepers; it can get a little noisy when people stumble in from the bombshelter. If there are several of you and you can get your own room there (the bunkhouse sleeps 4 to a room) it's better because you'll all probably get up/go to bed at around the same time, which makes it easier. I stayed in the bunkhouse last week with no problems, but I wore earplugs to bed so I couldn't hear anything! 7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
sunnydee123 0 #8 March 1, 2004 I just got back from Perris and we stayed a mile up the road at the Days Inn and it was clean, warm and quiet ($45) Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

QuoteJust be advised that the bunkhouse at Perris is not well suited for light sleepers; it can get a little noisy when people stumble in from the bombshelte The IHOP (International House of Parachutists) at Perris is a nice alternative to the Bunkhouse. It's like a second bunkouse for Perris, but tends to be just a little quieter. Ask manifest about it. Oh yeah, it has showers and a hot tub.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
Nightingale 0 #12 March 2, 2004 I've heard good things about the Days Inn in Perris, and the Pechanga Casino near Elsinore. Dunno how much the Pechanga is, tho.

Just be aware that at big events the price goes up. The $30-45/night price is their rate now, but just watch it when a large event (like Nationals) books all the hotels/motels around. Book your reservations now, teams! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
