She taught at a Catholic school til last year, and I'm sorry, its rediculous to have a 55 year old woman shelling out $60 a month for birth control because of the church's idiotic closemindedness. Ok...so even better...now they get to shell out money for ALL their prescriptions when they stop giving them any drug benefits. This is stupid....they are giving them a voluntary benefit, they're not discriminating against anyone....it should be up to them. Well, maybe I misunderstood the article, but it seemed to me that it said that if an employer chooses to provide benefits, then it can't discriminate about what benefits to give unless it is a church/temple/mosque, and apparently this charity isn't.... Michele 1 #27 March 2, 2004 QuoteSo my question is, does the benefit cover viagra? Actually, a more pertinent question would be do they offer/cover vasectomies (which prevents conception) v. viagara which makes someone able to have sex and thereby conceive a child. That would be an interesting observation. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

But does that make sense to you? That since they want to give some benefits, they have to give all? Why not let them give the benefits that they want to? Personally, I'm all in favor of free health care for everyone. But right now it's not a law that businesses must provide that. So now their choice is, give into gov't demands that they do something against the rules of their religion, or stop giving any prescription benefits. Like I said - the courts are doingthis because THEY CAN, not because it is right, or makes sense, but they obviously do not respect the religious views of others, and actually seem to heartily disagree with them.
