Does anyone like skydiving videos?

SURPRISE! Weeeee're baaaaaaack!

http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2

Special thanks to mcrocker, who has donated EXTREMELY generous hosting. Also thanks to lingobaby who designed just about the whole site. He also made the WONDERFUL catch that the previous host never actually shut off my account to the database server, saving the "meat" of the site from being lost forever.

The last files to be uploaded are gone and will have to be reuploaded. Also there are still a few issues with some of the scripts (file sizes don't show up every time), and I'm sure there are files listed that no longer exist on the server. But these things will get taken care of.

The site is again only linked from dropzone.com for now. PLEASE give me feedback on any bugs, or anything that you think should be changed. Again, I know that file sizes dont always show up, and it would be nice if they showed up in the file lists. Working on those.

Edit: If the site appears to be completely broken, it's probably the database server cutting us off... long story but it'll be fixed soon if it's broken!

Have fun, happy downloading!

Dave

Holy shit... it works!

Alright.. lets drive some business towards Mcrockers's ISP. There was some people asking about personal webspace today... lets remind them of what is being donated and send some business that way as a thank you!

Yep,

It looks like the site is up but it isn't hitting the local database yet. I just created the MySQL database on my server, dave needs to populate it and then move the script over.

For the geeks out there.

www.skydivingmovies.com is now hosted on web-cluster1.crocker.com which is...

A load balanced cluster of 2 Linux (Fedora)/Apache servers (P-III 1Ghz with 1Gig RAM). Data is stored in a MySQL database and on a NetFiler F720 NAS. I gave the site 20 Gigs of drive space, If we actually hit that mark I'll have to up the quota a bit. hits are load balanced between the two servers using Linux Virtual Server (www.linuxvirtualserver.org). We currently have 3 upstream Internet connections (Sprint, Verio, Cent.net) Total bandwidth is about 100mbps. I'm looking at replacing the DS-3s with FastEthernet or GigE over the summer. I need a new router first (big time expense :() *hhrm, new router or 1/4 of an Otter.... decisions, decisions*

Be nice!!! Don't beat on the servers too bad. If things get too bad I'll have to move the site to a dedicated 'non-production' box and rate-limit it. Not a big deal, just some shuffling around on this end. skydivingmovies.com will have a home somewhere on my network until Dave wants to move it.

Enjoy!

I do still have the codecs pack. I was trying to find a good one I can link to instead of putting it directly on the site, but I might be able to temporarily. It's called Ace Mega Codecs Pack if anyone wants to try to find it elsewhere. Kazaa Lite also used to have a codecs pack on their site if anyone can find that. It's called K-Lite Codecs Pack.

Hey Wingy, try this one.

I use it and it has all the latest codecs up to DIVX 5.02.

www.jaffie.com/matt/sw/Nimo50Build9Beta1.exe (7.6MB)

Edit: However, be careful in installing ALL of them... as they sometimes conflict with each other and produce garbled video or blank audio. I choose only to install the codecs that are required.

Dontcha love that?? I was getting over 500 in testing yesterday, and I even hit over 1000 from work today.

Expect the site to start generally running faster (other than download speeds) by tonight or tomorrow when we switch database servers. That will probably also solve the filesize not showing issue.

Anyone found anything else that doesn't work properly? How about the different languages? Everything look right?
