Here are couple of thing I’ll throw in just to stir the pot. Source AS8015-B

When was the last time you saw an original ripcord with the following information anywhere on it.

4.2.2 Primary Actuation Device/Ripcord: The following information shall be marked on the primary actuation device/ripcord:
a. Part number, including dash number
b. Manufacturer’s identification
c. TSO-C23( )
d. Batch, serial number, or date of manufacture (month and year)

This little section should make the issue of replace with “like part” clear as mud.

5. COMPONENT QUALIFICATIONS:

If you look in the new Javelin manual I think you'll find that they state that it is illeagal to pack the rig with any thing other then the an original factory ripcord. Page 6? Just a little some thing they sneeked in. I don't recall any one else being so anal. Foes any one else actually state that?

I can't remember ever seeing any manufacture follow this.
