Is this a good idea?

Since I've been traveling an awful lot lately, and unfortunately missing some folks I would have liked to say 'hi' to had I known they were around, I came up with an idea...

Maybe we should find a way to be able to search by dropzone for the DZ.commer's that jump there? Maybe you could list a primary and then other 'haunts'? I think that would be groovy...then when anyone is visiting, they could look up that DZ and see who all is near there...and maybe set up some jumps or somethin', or go out and share some brews.

Curious, could you not just do that by looking at profiles of jumpers before you go into a specific area. I believe everybody here pretty much has an idea of who live in what secton of the country, so just pulling up those people's profiles should give the information required, I would think, but I don't know, just curious.

Considering how much time a lot of people spend on mindless post whoring... I can't see any reason why they couldn't spend a bit of time figuring out who jumps where if they really want to know.

there used to be a way to search for skydivers based on a bunch of different criteria. For some reason that search is gone. I assumed it was removed to make it harder for stalkers and others to gather that info.

I used to do that last year... BUT it seems the search engine was changed with some changes late last year. You can search by states still but not by DZ unless I am missing something now.

Fabulous idea.

From what I can tell at this point, I've only three people at my dz, myself, kai2k1 and flygirl03...

Sure would be nice though like your saying to pick a dz and see who's there....

-Did that, but again, if it's a last minute trip and the people from that DZ don't happen to log on to DZ.com and resopnd to that thread right away, then you'd still miss 'em...

Searching by state can be nuts...I did do that out of curiosity before going to TX...do you have any idea how many PAGES of DZ.commers are from each state?? And then you have to figure out if they're in that area, or 5 hours east of there, or what. I figured it would be cool if we could search by DZ specifically. I'd put my info on there!
