crapflinger2000 1 #1 March 9, 2004 Hey, anyone know of a good site that just provides overall info about road bikes and components? Maybe a FAQ? Just wanna find out about the difs between frame materials, junk like that. There are quite a few sites but can't seem to find one that addresses basic newbie questions like what are advantages of steel frames over aluminum over cro-moly (or whatever).... __________________________________________________ What would Vic Mackey do? EricaH 0 #4 March 9, 2004 I think Nashbar is a good site, might just be stuff for sale though. Also, REI.com has a lot of info on getting the right stuff, somewhere like, getting started w/_____. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)
BoostedXT 0 #5 March 9, 2004 whatever you do do not go Aluminum. Your teeth will fall out with all the rattle and bumb. Buy either steel, carbon. That is my one word of advice.....the best thing to do is check out like shimano.com and check the levels of all the componants.\ JoeFor long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. rogue108 0 #6 March 9, 2004 I would have to agree with that statement to some degree. Aluminum has come a long way, but I still prefer carbon, steel, or titanium. Aluminum bikes make for great sprinting and climbing. I don't think I would pick one for a century though. Some of the new Easton aluminum tubesets don't feel a whole lot like aluminum
