freeflir29 0 #2 March 9, 2004 Go get some HUGE vitamin C pills. Take a couple thousand IU per day. Always seemed to help me. Works better if you take at the first sign of symptoms though.

Andrewwhyte 1 #6 March 9, 2004 Go to the pool. Swim until you think you will drown before getting to the side to get out. go directly to the hot tub to warm your core back up. When you get home have a nice pasta with an olive oil based sauce LOADED with garlic, jalapinos and seafood. neo-citron. SLEEP.

canopycandy 0 #9 March 9, 2004 My mom is from Germany, and they have some strange healing remedies. (I think there's a reason the first four letters of their country spell "germ.") My least favorite: Whenever I was sick, I always had to drink a mug full of fresh-squeezed lemon juice. But not just any lemon juice -- this stuff was boiling. No sugar either, because that somehow promotes illness, according to my mom. It worked, though. In retrospect, I'm guessing it was the Vitamin C that made this so effective. My favorite remedy used to be to drink and smoke as much as possible. My theory was that if you were a germ, would you want a healthy body? Or a crappy one? You'd want the fresh, healthy meat, right? So just drink until the germs won't want you. Now I tend to buy homeopathic rememdies for whatever my worst symptoms are. They really do help -- but they're not nearly as interesting as drinking boiling lemon juice.

Some very interesting advice here. Adequate hydration, nutrition and sleep. OTC Pseudophed during the day and Benadryl at night. Regardless of what you do, it will all be over in about three days. Rdy2skydive 0 #15 March 9, 2004 I can't say enough about Cold Ease. Get some at your local drug store. They taste terrible but will move a cold through your system very quickly. Feel better.
EricaH 0 #16 March 9, 2004 I use alka-Seltzer cold & flu - in orange, doesn't taste so bad. nitequil (sp) & some soothing lemon or camamile tea. my mom swears on Vitamine C & Eccanetia stuff, but I beleive, that for that stuff to work, you have to believe it's going to... therefore, it doesn't work on me. Good luck, I just had such a head cold & had to use a sick day for actually being sick for the first time in years!! Went away after sleeping for like 20 hours. There is no can't. It's just never worked for me. I'm a HUGE believer in the mind over matter thingie, then I'm a skeptic about eccanetia - it didn't work for me, therefore I deduce that you have to believe in it. There's also proof that many people heal themselves after they've been fooled into believeing they had surgery. Bottom line is the human body is a great mystery, there are many many theories, many of which have been proven - many of which can be made to be proven. If it works for you & if someone else believes it may work for them, it just may. I'm only giving my thoughts. Never said "it doesn't work".... sorry if you got the wrong impression - bad week.
