What's your Favorite Rock-n-Roll Band

Recommended Posts

Believe it or not, I made my introduction as a music fan by following The Clash. Even had all of their LPs. Yes the big vinyl discs. They put out some awesome music. London Calling may be their best song. Later on I gravitated to the hard rock genre, following bands like David Lee Roth's Van Halen and Def Leppard. I also enjoyed U2 up until their Joshua Tree album. I also liked heavy metal rockers The Ramones and AC/DC. They have managed to keep playing essentially the same music for 30-odd years and still pack the arenas. I quit listening to music in the early 90's due to a bad tinnitus attack, but for some reason I can't get these songs out of my head - Ramones' Blitzkrieg "hey ho, lets go"; AC/DC's Thunderstruck "oh ah oh ah oh THUNDER!"; Joe Satriani's Crushing Day; and The Bee Gees' Staying Alive, to name a few. One of these tunes and many more gets started in my head and I'm humming along. I sometimes forget people at work can hear me. :D

OOOH

2112

Priest of the temples. One of my favorite tunes to play on bass.

Too cool. Geddy Lee is incredible.

I saw the first few replies talking about Led Zeppelin, and I found myself having to agree. While I absolutely love Rush, especially for lyrics-driven songs, they are more of a "progressive-rock" band to me, and Led Zeppelin is more purely "rock-and-roll" especially because of their heavy blues influence. ("The Lemon Song" can practically bring tears to my eyes.)

My vote goes to Led Zeppelin.

oooooohhh, i TOTALLY forgot creedence! good call!!! they're definately up in the top 5......

Yup - If I had to choose only one it would most likely be them.

Just read that David Crosby (Crosby, Stills and Nash) was arrested for possesion. As a band they weren't all bad either!

I wish they'd leave my boy alone.

So what, he prefers the smoke.

Big Deal

Assholes

I agree. And as a "never have smoked even once in my life," I still think pot being illegal is the height of ignorant stupidity and hypocrisy, as well as corruption.

But as far as David Crosby goes, I thought he was one of those born-again proselytizing "I'm so glad to be clean and sober" types! When'd he fall off the wagon?
