How many of you got your new/old B license?

Recommended Posts

WAHOOO just got my new B license over the phone!
B 26751!!!

I always wondered though, how many of you all actually sent in for your B-license, or if you skipped it so you could get your C or D?

And the Old B versus the New B refers to the change back in september when the C and D license requirements changed, yes the B license stayed at 50 jumps, but since the C went to 200, I didn't want to wait until I had 200 jumps to get a higher license than A. I was just wondering if any of you did the same.

and quick funny story, I am getting my B so that I can take a coach course, so one of my instructors gives me the B test... I pass it and send in all the crap. about a week later, I talk to my S&TA and discover I had taken the old test and sent that in... the questions had changed since then and so I turned in an answer sheet with the answers apparently all wrong. So then I took the correct test, called up USPA and they straighted things out quick, and told me my new license number.

And does the B entitle me to anything other then night jumps?

I have 220 jumps and this weekend I'll finally be doing my water training so I can get my B. I'm a lazy bastard and would probably put it off even longer but I need the B for a coach rating. I thought I'd be able to go straight to my C, but I didn't realize that the C license now has the landing accuracy from the old D license (25 at 2 meters).

From the USPA's Web site

Persons holding a USPA B license are able to exercise all privileges of an A-license holder, perform night jumps, with 100 jumps are eligible for the USPA Coach Rating.

Maximum ground winds, For licensed skydivers are unlimited.

Minimum opening altitudes, B-license holders--2,500 feet AGL.

Areas used for skydiving should be unobstructed, with the following minimum radial distances to the nearest hazard: B- and C-license holders--50 meters

I got my B a few years back.

I was planning on getting the old C, and was close too. It was the start of the last summer before they changed everything, and I had 97 jumps.

Well, the date came around for chaning things and I still had 97 jumps. Getting engaged to a non jumper is not exactly conducive to jump numbers. Same for graduating and getting a real job.

I don't have either anymore, the woman or the job, but I don't regret either one. I do wish I'd managed to get those three jumps though. :P

Well, I never got an A, because I didn't need one, and by the time I got my own gear (not governemt issue) and could begin going to civilian DZs, I had enough experience to get a B.

This was in the old days where the ISP was nary a gleam in USPA's eye.

I actually skipped A, B and C. I would have gone for a B.. but when I did my first couple of night jumps the USPA's director of safety and training personally waived the B liscense requirement for me. The stamp on the yellow card served me well for the 7 months it took me to get the requirements for my D (I only got that because I was getting my coach rating).

I got the B license so that I could play at a local boogie that would have required one due to a lake/pond near the landing area. It was the old B, and I snuck my application in just before the deadline.
I've was also looking forward to doing night jumps, but as of now I have yet to do one.

no kidding. I can't wait for spring and once it gets warm enough at night, im gonna start bugging everyone at the DZ to do night jumps.

and i'm pretty surprised by the results of this poll... I thought most people just skipped their B, but it looks like the new "200 for C" rule may change that. Thanks everyone for the congrats
