quade 4 #1 March 10, 2004 http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/10/national/printable605042.shtml So, did he -want- to be caught? Ya know, it occurs to me that this is also how the D.C. Sniper case ended as well. Do these guys think they're on the 60s TV show Batman? I never could figure out why the Riddler would leave clues as to his next crime -- just never made sense.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Harksaw 0 #2 March 10, 2004 Apparently he did, probably for the same reason that dozens of terrorist groups claimed responsibility for the 1993 WTC bombing: They want attention to their cause.__________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. turtlespeed 226 #3 March 10, 2004 Maybe he didn't do it and it is actually being orchestrated by someone that uses his computer by remote - huh - huh -what if - I think he's being framed.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

quade 4 #7 March 10, 2004 Oh kayyyy . . . Let me rephrase. Why do criminal "geniuses" always seem to give themselves away by sending clues and notes to the cops? The ONLY case I can think of where this was actually successful -- really pissing off the cops yet not leading to their capture -- is the Zodiac case.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
mnischalke 0 #8 March 10, 2004 Talk about stupid. Dude's a member of ELF and they're burning cars? Ummm, Guess they haven't got any clue as to the amount toxins and pollutants caused by burning a vehicle. Sounds about as bright as the few pro-lifers who kill doctors. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. quade 4 #9 March 10, 2004 Quote Obviously an attention whore, like all terrorists really are. Ok, but to me that still doesn't make any sense. Let's take the case of September 11, 2001 for instance. Wouldn't it have been far more effective 5 minutes prior to the first plane striking they would have broadcast their intentions? Something to the effect of, "Hi. We're pissed at your country so we're going to demonstrate to you exactly how pissed off we are and you'll know it's us that's pissed off at you so you don't have to kill any of the innocent people surrounding us in our part of the world. Watch the news in about 5 minutes and see." I still don't think they've come out and claimed 9/11. As for the eco-terrorists attacking SUVs, they claimed their acts by spray painting the Hummers, so I think it was pretty obvious for a group effort, yet this one guy seemed like he needed to further taunt the cops. I think it goes beyond just wanting to get his point across -- maybe some sort of cry for attention, but certainly not for the originally stated reason of being against SUVs.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
lawrocket 3 #10 March 10, 2004 You also forget Jack the Ripper. He also taunted the police. Believe it or not, the current leading suspect was a lawyer. He killed himself and the killings stopped. Edited to add - Oh, yes. And the BTK strangler in Wichita in the 1970's was never caught. My wife is hotter than your wife.
quade 4 #11 March 10, 2004 Damn, you're right. Jack did taunt the cop. Can you think of any others that got away with it?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
wzettler 0 #12 March 10, 2004 I think the DC sniper was leaving notes because he was trying to get paid to stop killing people(ransom). Dumb, I admit but I guess thats the only way to get paid... I think when Jesus said "love your enemy" he probably meant don't kill them.
quade 4 #13 March 10, 2004 The D.C. Snipers were doing all sorts of crazy things, but ultimately they made some phone calls to the cops and tied themselves into a couple of other cases bragging about them to the police who hadn't connected those to the shooting spree. THAT was their undoing. The business of leaving Tarot cards was just as mysterious as anything and really lead the cops nowhere.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
