freeflir29 0 #1 March 10, 2004 So tell me what you guys think. What do you think will happen in Iraq if Kerry gets elected? I'm once again considering a career change but it's based on the current American Administration in Iraq staying there. It concerns me that if Kerry gets elected he may try to shut down the current goings on. That would leave me somewhat flapping in the breeze. Opinions? PhillyKev 0 #2 March 10, 2004 I doubt there would be an immediate withdrawal. No matter who wins, we'll be there for years. Hopefully he'll have at least some semblance of an exit strategy though, unlike now.
koz2000 1 #3 March 10, 2004 He'll probably call everyone over there baby-killers, throw their medals away, and let Jane Fonda become the chief administrator in Iraq.______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. billvon 3,131 #4 March 10, 2004 No great political mind here, but . . . I think the determining factor in how long we stay in Iraq and what our role is will be based more on what happens in Iraq than what happens in November. If the new constitution stands, and we have free elections in June, functioning government by September, and no security problems by the end of the year? Both presidents will get us out of there pretty quickly. If the place turns into a quagmire, with the new Iraqi government unable to stand on its own against Al Qaeda et al without massive support? Both administrations will support the new government. So odd as it sounds, I suspect having Al Qaeda active in the Middle East will do you more good than seeing either person elected. Amazon 7 #6 March 11, 2004 QuoteI don't think we will see their end for quite some time. I predict there probably will not even be an election Tommy Franks has already let it slip that if another attack occurs there will be martial law. The people in power dont want to leave.. and so I think being in that position is a good sound one for the foreseeable future.

Here I was trying to talk myself into NOT giving up my cushy govt job with a nice upper middle class retirement.
Tink1717 2 #8 March 11, 2004 Not likely that ANY administration will be able to get out of Iraq any time soon. Whoever comes in next will be pre occupied with preventing the mullahs from turning it into yet another anti-western Islamic theocracy. Probably a lost cause already.
