are you talking about the NVG mount on the front of our Kevlar Helment?

I suppose that means Night Vision Goggles, right? The only night vision gear in my day was a rifle scope device, and it was not worth a nickel past 100-meters either.

Yep.........There are several differen't mounts that are used. One for the PVS-7? Whatever model is out now. Another for a Monocular that seemed to be quite popular with the 82nd and some of the "High Speed" troops. You also MUST have glint tape and the glow stuff on the back. The "new" Kevlars look nice. I got out in 2000 but I saw a friends that was with 1/75. Looks MUCH more comfy!!!!!!

We rarely wore them unless we were doing raids but they've got a new kevlar helmet now called the MICH. Modular Integrated Communications Helmet. It's very comfortable and has lots of real padding. It's a little more streamlined than the old Kevlar and sits a bit higher on your head. Doesn't cover as much of your ears. BIG improvment.

It has been many years since I've had a steel pot helmet on my head, so I have to ask: What is that thing the grunts have on front of their helmets these days?

Well then, if you are that old, you remember the old saying, "Home is wherever you hang your helmet liner."
Peace,
