rjf98 0 #1 March 16, 2004 Took the point and paid my fine. Might have been cheaper and options, but what the hell, I'm leaving this state and didn't want to deal with it. Since it is my only point it won't cause insurance to go up. Fine was only 179. Judge told me that if I had been going 101 he would most likely have taken the license for most, but would have given my military service some thought. He was actually a pretty nice guy. When things first started I was happy to not hear my name in the first 15 folks. I wanted time to assess the judge and figure out if I should pleady guilty, or request a court date and plead not guilty. Funny thing was how much this was like me running NJP proceedings against Marines... just WAY more people here. He was VERY efficient and had some funny comments to those asking for an extension who had already had over 10 months of them in one case. After being called. I presented myself at the defendents table (more like 6 and centered at parade rest like a good Marine.. at least I didn't come to attentionTold him that I wasn't going to try and debate with him about if I was speeding or not, just that I wanted to take care of something I had done wrong, but didn't really want to see my license suspended for a number of different reasons. Then his explination and my agreement to pay fine and walk. For those that have never been to a traffic court. GO. MY WORD there are some funny things said in that courtroom in front of that judge. Funniest part is the snickering and gasps from the other people in the courtroom when someone gets slammed with a hefty fine. At some point in your life you will most likely get a ticket. Just by going and knowing what will happen you are getting a head start on defending yourself.

NEVER plead guilty, the correct answer is "no contest". - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #3 March 16, 2004 Oh Rich, you are such a super nice guy that the judge just had no choice, but to treat you well. It's your Southern charm and manners that helped you. (It's too bad it wasn't a female judge, though.) Well, thank god that this is over. I am so glad that you got it all settled. It was very entertaining. One guy got finedcouldn't pay so got a couple of days in the slammer. Some kid got caught driveing without a liscense so he showed up with his mom. After the judge got thru with them, the kid grabs the car keys from his mom and drives her home. Then there was the lawyer who got busted for DWI and represented himself. Better than judge judy.
