nbblood 0 #34 March 15, 2004 Wow, I didn't know that. I had to leave Sunday morning. I signed her logbook and checked out her pro-track that said 261 on a jump and she told me she was working on speed. Wasn't there for the mishap though. Hope everything is alright. Oh, and don't forget she owes beer for the first jump at Skydive Mesquite too!! Jeanne, let us know how you're doing. Hope everything is alright. BillyVance 35 #37 March 15, 2004 Glad to hear Amazon is just sore and not battered 310 mph! It takes some practice to get over 300. You also have to pull out of the speed dive with enough time to bleed off the speed before deploying. I only did one speed dive just for fun a few years back, and borrowed someone else's PRO track just to see how fast I could go. So, I put all my experience as a big-way late diver to use and went as hard as I could. I planned to pull out of the dive at 4500 and deploy at 2500. I didn't bleed off enough speed either WHAM!!! Fortunately I didn't break any lines or any bones , but I was sore too! I hit 224 mph. Not bad for a 160 lb weakling. Haven't really had the interest to try it again... It's a good thing she slowed down as much as she did! mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
steve1 5 #40 March 15, 2004 I'm sure Jeane mentioned, on here, about some round reserve rides in the old days. But a first square reserve ride ought to be good enough to buy beer. Jeane, you need to be more careful. I want to make some more jumps with you at Lost Prairie this summer....Steve1

jtval 0 #42 March 15, 2004 QuoteHow long of a skydive was that? What alti did she get out at, and where did she deploy? Jeanne would have to answer that. all I saw was the 310MPH. we were getting about 13000-14000ft I would guess tha tjump was like 3 nanoseconds; when you travel that fast the time space continuim(sp?) seems to bendMy photos My Videos

What were you doing to be going that fast? Aren't you a newbie? Also, how tall are you? What is your body mass like? (You don't have to answer that if you don't want to.) Girlfalldown 0 #46 March 15, 2004 I got a non-drunk dial from Amazon after it happened. Damn glad you're ok! When she said it was her first on 3 ring confused me so I asked someone at my dropzone about it. They said you used to have to actually pull your reserve out of a bag on your belly and throw it out....is that true or am I just gullible? -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)
Kennedy 0 #47 March 15, 2004 Quoteis that true or am I just gullible? a little of both. I think she meant she had the old cutaway system, before three rings were invented/patented. I think you use to have to pull each side one at time, but don't quote me on that. belly mounted reserves (even older) I don't know a damn thing about, and I'm hoping someone will answer you.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
freeflir29 0 #48 March 15, 2004 QuoteThey said you used to have to actually pull your reserve out of a bag on your belly and throw it out....is that true or am I just gullible? Very true. On the "old" T-10 reserve if you had any sort of partial malfunction, meaning you had some canopy over your head but it wasn't right, you held your hand over the container flaps. Pulled the reserve handle. Then grabbed as much of the canopy material as you could and threw into the direction of spin. It was assumed you would be spinning with a partial mal. I had to learn this method when I went to jump school in 1996. The military was just starting to use the MRPS reserve which has a spring loaded P/C. freeflir29 0 #49 March 15, 2004 QuoteI think you use to have to pull each side one at time, but don't quote me on that. Yep...Cape Wells. You had to open each one and pull the cable to release it.
FrogNog 1 #50 March 15, 2004 QuoteIt's a good thing she slowed down as much as she did! Well, I'm sure the Triathlon, or what remained of it, did a good job of slowing her down to safe reserve deployment speed. Glad to hear she followed skydiving sport rule #1. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
