alcarterra 0 #1 March 16, 2004 So, I just found out that I got this apartment that I had applied for. I have mixed feelings though. It's just really not what I had in mind for my first (yes i know, beer...) apartment. It's in the area I wanted to move to, has a washer/dryer (which is a huge plus), a fire place (which is always nice), and a fitness center (another plus). The only thing is that it's pretty small. My question is how many of you moved into a place you weren't thrilled about but it turned out fine in the end? Thanks! alyson team swooo swooo #
Brains 2 #2 March 16, 2004 I moved into an apartment outside atlanta when i lived there just cause it was close to work and i had to have something quick. It turned out to be a pretty cool place to live, bass pro shops was right down the street. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. kelel01 1 #3 March 16, 2004 I've usually had the opposite experience . . . I thought I was moving into the coolest place in the world, but everytime it turned out the places were shitty (structurally, management-wise, etc.). I'm sure it'll be fine! Enjoy it! Sounds like there are a lot of things going for it! Kelly
baa75 0 #4 March 16, 2004 Wow Alyson...you poor thing! How could they possibly expect you to endure living in those conditions?! I would just die if I had to live in a place with a washer/dryer, fireplace and fitness center! Haha!! Its only you, how small could the place be? (seriously, what's the square footage?) How about this...You can take my kids and I'll live there! So far all the places I've lived in have been pretty nice. Whether I expected them to be or not. Go for it girl! BettyAnn Getting married? freeflir29 0 #5 March 16, 2004 I moved into an apartment 11 months ago. I had exactly 9 days to travel from the Jersey shore to Cleveland,OH......find a place to live......then go back to Atlanta and gather my belongings and get them here. It SUCKED! I got an apartment that I HATE. Thank God I'll be out of here in 6 weeks. I should be buying a condo/town house in the next couple weeks.

alcarterra 0 #12 March 17, 2004 QuoteSo are you really asking about this apartment or just bragging that you got it?! No, seriously, I really have no clue what to do and I have to call the guy back tonight. The whole thing is that there's really not much to pick from down there. I don't want to move down the shore which is right by work, but i need to be a bit closer than I am now...the hour commute each way is getting old. And I'm still not totally sold on the place... alyson team swooo swooo #
Keith 0 #13 March 17, 2004 If it helps any, I just moved out of the first apartment that was all mine. I was very concerned about the neighborhood when I moved in; to the point I almost didn't rent it. Friends told me I was being a butt. Turns out they were right. I loved living there and now I miss the apartment and the neighborhood.Keith Don't Fuck with me Keith - J. Mandeville
chaoskitty 0 #14 March 17, 2004 When I lived in Austin, I gave up a kick ass townhouse just south of downtown to move to the north side of town, four blocks from my office because traffic was such a bitch. I didn't ever really like that apartment, (the one 4 blocks from office) but I didnt spend a lot of time there either. I was traveling, working, at the gym, at friends houses. I dont think I hung a single painting on the wall. It was just a huge stress relief to know that I didnt have to rush through work and leave by a certain time to avoid sitting in traffic for over an hour. Unless you have other options that seem more suited to you, this doesnt sound so bad! Its what you make it. I'd live in a dirt hole if it were five min from the dz! Jimbo 0 #15 March 17, 2004 Call the guy and tell him you'll take it. If you don't like it, you can move in a year. Trust me, years go by quickly. How much time do you plan on spending in your apartment? - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
alcarterra 0 #16 March 17, 2004 I probably won't be spending all that much time in my apartment. With work and the DZ being so close, I'll probably be out most of the time. I know that I should take it, I can't figure out why I'm stalling. I have until tomorrow night to tell the guy if I want it or not. I think that I'm having this issue because this happened pretty quickly. I wasn't planning on moving out for a few more months, and all the sudden this place turns up and now I can have my own place in a little more than two weeks... alyson team swooo swooo #

baa75 0 #19 March 17, 2004 I can't believe I'm actually doing this but...I have to agree with Jim. Just get the place. It sounds great and you can't beat the location (other than being closer to CK ). I know what you mean with the hour commute though, I'm working on that one myself. I saw a place today...5 minutes from work, not much closer to the DZ but closer to 95 at least, good price but kinda small. Of course I also have to fit two kids in there. Oh yeah, its a condo too so at least you're only renting not buying! It sounds like maybe you're just a bit nervous about commiting to your first place. It obviously has all the good stuff. Unless its under 400 square feet or something you should have enough room for you and your gear. Go for it! (Me & the kids need a place to stay when we head down the shore this Summer! ) BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website!
Jimbo 0 #20 March 17, 2004 "5 minutes from the dropzone" isn't anywhere near the Jersey Shore, BA. And.. QuoteI can't believe I'm actually doing this but...I have to agree with Jim. alcarterra 0 #21 March 17, 2004 QuoteI know what you mean with the hour commute though That's what I'm driving now, if I take this place it will be slightly closer...about a 40 minute drive instead...at least it saves 40 minutes a day in driving, and about 40 miles too... alyson team swooo swooo #

Alyson, take the apartment. Small is good. Keeps you from accumulating a lot of crap and makes housework go much faster. I love my dinky little one bedroom cottage by the river more than any other place I've lived.
