flygirl03 0 #26 March 15, 2004 QuoteFlygirl...I love that you are so motivated, even though this has been a very difficult journey for you. Nobody that has more than about 30 jumps gives a rat's behind how many jumps anyone takes to pass AFF. It doesn't matter at all later on... TRUST me. Thanks.Rosa. I know this all too well. People are impressed now when I tell them Im a private pilot with 260 + hours.. They don't care how long it took me to get that certificate. It is all just gaining experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ earthbound misfit
skybytch 273 #27 March 15, 2004 QuoteAlso, there is a book that you should read..."Mental training for Skydiving and Life". Absolutely! As far as relaxing goes, have you ever done yoga, any type of meditation or even Lamaze breathing flygirl? You can use those breathing techniques when you're skydiving too. At almost 1000 jumps I still spend a few minutes concentrating on my breathing during the climb to altitude, more than a few minutes when I'm doing something new, different or bigger than what I normally do. Consider building several pauses for a deep breath and a smile into your dive plan (of course talk to your instructors about this before doing it). You'll be amazed at how relaxed you can be in freefall simply by reminding yourself to breathe and smile.

chuteless 1 #29 March 15, 2004 I would like to point out that I was not intending to malign the Quantum Leap dropzone, and my remarks were intended to reflect a question about the AFF program, and contributing factors that make it work as it does. I have not been to QL, and do not know any of the instructors there, so my apologies if I have unitentionally offended anyone from that organization with my comments.
