DJatLarge 0 #1 March 18, 2004 Well, kind of a surprise to me but not really. I went into work today (on time as usual,) the boss came up to me and said I need to talk to you in Human Resources. Yep, you guessed it, I got fired today. First time fired......... is that a case of beer? At least I have my weekends off again.
Jimbo 0 #2 March 18, 2004 Bummer. At my currently employer, the HR folks come into the bosses office. Saves a walk downstairs, I suppose. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Lainey 0 #6 March 18, 2004 that sucks, i'm sorry to hear it, hope things start looking up for you soon. a friend of mine just got royally screwed by his company yesterday, they hired him two months ago as an account manager, he brought with him a massive client base from a pervious position, downloaded all the info into their computer systems, brought in heaps of new work and as soon as he finished giving them the details of all the clients they fired him, the very same day. he was still in the trial peroid so no 4 weeks pay, no warning, nothing. they told him they didn't want to go into the reasons for laying him off, jerks. aero04 0 #7 March 18, 2004 Holy Shit?!?! Is something like that even legal? That seems to be worst way an employer can f#$k over someone.

Lainey 0 #9 March 18, 2004 QuoteHoly Shit?!?! Is something like that even legal? That seems to be worst way an employer can f#$k over someone. yeah he's understandably heaps upset about it, seems they only hired him for the knowledge he had and as soon as they got it all they let him go. He's going to speak with the department of unfair dismissals or whatever it's called to see if you have to be given warnings in a trial period or not. sorry to hijack this thread btw. . Guest #11 March 18, 2004 "Fired" as in "Sacked", "Dismissed", "Shown the Door", or as in "laid off"? mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
DJatLarge 0 #12 March 18, 2004 Fired as in "termination effective immediatly." I guess I join the group of unemployed skydivers everywhere. Maybe now I can move to a sunny climate!!
