Wow, Size matters...

.....when you are talking about screen size!

My bro-in-law was nice enough to give me his used 24-inch Sony/Dell Trinitron Monitor (he does graphics for a living).

Check out the pics - the compare pic is sitting next to my old 17inch monitor (when I finally get a new video card, I will use multi-monitor).

The other pic is with my laptop next to it to help see what my final setup looks like.

dual screen is really nice. Matrox makes a decent dual screen video card and so does ATI. They run around $100. At work all of our designers have dual screen systems. Their video cards run about $700. It is convenient to have two monitors.

I was installing a water heater for a customer one time. Down in the basement laying on the concrete froor next to the water heater theres a 21" Dell Trinitron laying on it's side. I ask the customer what the deal was with it, she says if you want it... take it. :)

I got a great deal on a Sun / Sony Trinitron, and my eyes haven't stopped thanking me.

I'm only waiting until I've got some income, though, so that I can switch to LCD.

I bought a Viewsonic P225F 21-inch professional flat screen monitor last year; it's worth the expense, IMHO. It's being driven by an ATI FireGL X1 128MB DDR Dual DVI workstation video card. I have both Win2k Pro & Red Hat Enterprise WS--works great with either.

I'll second the Dual screen....

I had 3 montors setup on my Red hat, that was insane...

TBH, Win2k and above supports multiple screens so you really don't need a dual head video card, just throw another card in.
