kai2k1 0 #1 March 18, 2004 I just heard this on the 5 o'clock news. If there is a link posted later I will post that also. A 7th grader from the St. Louis area purchased a football with money he had saved. He boxed the football up and addressed it to any soldier in Iraq. The Soldiers sent the boy pictures of themselves playing football in Iraq. Upon completion of their tour of duty every member of the Unit signed the football and one Soldier delivered it to him at a school assembly. It turns out that the soldier that delivered the football to the boy had just became a Jumpmaster and presented the boy with his new Jumpmaster wings. Needless to say the boy had tears in his eyes as the football was presented to him. This gives me great faith in the youth of our country. tunaplanet 0 #3 March 18, 2004 I believe I just heard in CNN last night that a soldier stationed state-side refused to go to Iraq because he opposed the war. That makes me irate. Someone kick this fucker in the nuts REAL hard. "I'm opposed to the war" is code for "I'm a big pussy whose afraid I may die." This is one topic that gets me fuming. I despise my former military brothers who join up, reap the benifits of housing, reduced food cost, free medical, dental, etc... and then decide they don't want to hold up their end of the deal by refusing to go to war. BoostedXT 0 #4 March 18, 2004 When I was in 5th grade Desert Storm broke out and I was 10. I wrote a letter, and sent a bunch of Christmas stuff to any soldier in Iraq. The gentleman who got it was a Major in the Rangers. His last name was my last name except the Spanish version. He sent me photos of the christmas tree and all the candy I sent. At the end of the conflict he drove from SC where he lived to Boston to come and see me for the weekend. He went to my little league ball game and my family showed him around the city. He soon was married and I was in his wedding, and since then we have always been in contact. I have met his whole family, his wife and children have stayed with me and I have stayed with them. He is an incredible person and a great friend. BoostedXT 0 #6 March 19, 2004 When I was young I wanted to join the Military. I wanted to join since I was in 3rd grade. High school rolled around and it came time to decide. I did all my research and join the Air Force SOC for Combat Controller. I did the training and shattered my wrist into 1800 millinion pieces. In order to hold me together they put a lot of metal in my body and in the end I exceeded the Gov't Limit. I got a medical and that was a day that I hated. I wish I could be in the military and serve. I never thought about doing it for school, or the benefits. I wanted to serve because I wanted too. As for these people who are in the service and dont want to be in Iraq. Ok I can show compasion, because it has to be tough, but dont join unless you can accept the risk. Dont be a fireman if you cant handle the thought you will see blood........same for the military. Joe
PhillyKev 0 #7 March 19, 2004 That kind of thing sticks with a kid forever. Hell, I still remember when the high school I eventually attended won the championships when I was like 8 years old. My ticket number was drawn to win the game ball, and all the players signed that. 24 years later and I still remember that. And one of the players, Mike Ruth, was a nose tackle for the Pats for a brief period. (I also remember when he shot my sister with a beebee gun, because he lived 2 houses away... )

Going to Canada Damn thats old school "from back in the day". Look at the bright side of things, now a lawyer got his hooks into him$$$$$, and he's going to lose and still pay the lawyer. Dishonorable discharge Military prison. What was he thinking! If the guy's that dumb he's probably doing his coworkers a favor, wouldn't want him watching my back! He could get someone hurt. Doubt if the dummy could spell IED or remember how to clean his weapon. R.I.P.
BoostedXT 0 #14 March 19, 2004 The story I think you might be refering to is a kid who joined the military, went to Iraq and then came home on leave. When he was home on leave he decided he didnt want to go back so he went AWOL. He then turned himself in at Hanscom AF base in Bedford Mass saying he did want to go back because now he oppossed the war. This person is not a US citizen....he served 6 months which is what I believe you have to serve while deployed in order to become a US citizen. He also said he is not a criminal........he is right.....he is a deserter and a coward. Personally they should not put him back in....his lake of motivation could kill hard working, loyal soldiers over there. I think they should revoke his, and his families US stay and send them back to whatever country they came from.
