We currenty have witch hunts going on regarding social issues influenced by religious beliefs. The gov't has more legal power than ever to invade your privacy. A lot of things are being overlooked. For instance, you're guaranteed due process by the constitution. However that is not defined. Up until the Patriot Act, it meant that if you were arrested, you could only be held 72 hours before charges are brought against you. That has been changed to 120 hours. In other words you can be arrested and held for 5 days before you find out what you've been arrested for or can even make a phone call or speak to a lawyer. That's as long as you aren't accused of being a terrorist, in that case, you can be held indefinitely.

I think they are afraid of Kerry, and so they say they support him because they want people to think they're really afraid of Bush. I think they are afraid of Kerry who is afraid of Bush who is afraid of Hillary who is afraid of JohnRich who is afraid of Philly Kev who is afraid of Homer Simpson who is afraid of sock puppets. And I'm damned if I'll let sock puppets tell me who to vote for! ... However, the number of nations that carry out executions at all is small and decreasing, and we find ourselves in some pretty nasty company: Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Congo, N. Korea, Peoples Republic of China, Somalia... and until 2 years ago, Taliban. As far as executing juvenile criminals goes, the USA is in a shameful league of its own with its refusal to sign the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child!...
